From November 13-17, the Classic 24 Hour HSR was held at Daytona International Speedway. I learned of the event on very short notice, and could only attend the qualifying races. The weather was cloudy and cool – not bad for a race. There were a few brief showers, but nothing too serious.

Daytona does not do a very good job advertising events. We live about 30 minutes from the track. Sometimes we drive by and see that there is an ongoing race. The Daytona website, however, makes no mention of it. There was no listing for either OctoberFast (October 25-27) or the Classic 24 Hour HSR on the Daytona International Speedway website.

Anyway, we are looking forward to the Rolex 24 (24 Hours of Daytona), coming up on January 25-26. The BMW Endurance Challenge is held on the Friday before the Rolex 24 (January 24).

I’ve been enjoying the pics my cousin has been posting from the historics weekend . Pretty neat stuff there.

My sister and I are thinking about heading out for the Rolex but haven’t planned anything yet. It’s definitely on my bucket list.

The Rolex is usually a pretty good race, and Daytona is a great track. Check out the seats in the 380-390 section. You get a clear view of the entire infield, and the big turns are visible in the distance. I was in the infield, near the horses hoe, for the HSR. That is a really good spot too , if you can get it for the Rolex.
