Geo is cracky but I respect the preservation and am happy the color still exists.   The 90s at least tried to be fun.

I am out on podunk WA coast right now and I think I saw a SX4 yesterda y, not sure what one is worth but I think this one is wildly optimistic given the claimed rot.

I too respect the preservation, someone clearly loves that quirky 90s beast

Sweet Jumping Hey-Suze! That Eagle has a manual.

(And, the Iron Duke, which is a bummer... but it’s got a stick and clutch. )

For a split second I thought that said LS1 on the Geo ad, and the price almost made sense. But no.

I’ll give them 2 grand for it and will stuff a b18 under the hood. And maybe another in the trunk just for lulz.

Also, that Eagle is glorious. but also no.

My ex from MANY moons ago had a Metro convertible. It was actually kind of fun to drive. It was the whole slow-car-fast thing.

I want that eagle more than life itself. A buick L67 supercharged v6 will bolt right up to that transmission.

Same bellhousing pattern as a buick 3800 Series II naturally aspirated or supercharged...

I called these “roller skates” back in the day.  It seems most in this area were yellow.

I like the Cut of Your Jib, Jake... Yeah, wouldn’t that be the real deal? Classic Eagle with a modern S/C 3800-II?

Better mileage and great performance.

I see an Eagle like that every time I go out to Knob Creek. Just casually relaxing in someone’s yard. Been there at least 6 years, it’s how long I’ve lived here. Not quite the area to stop and ask if it is for sale.  But lordy do I want it.

Yes and no. While the L67 V6 uses at T5 trans, the duke here is attached to an earlier SR4 (which is the weak(er) cousin to the T4 and T5). The L67 also likely uses the GM T5 bellhousing pattern while AMC used the ford bellhousing pattern. This can be solved with the correct bellhousing as the L67 uses the GM 60 degree bellhousing pattern and AMC used the same pattern in the Cherokee in both 4.0L inline six and 2.5L inline four engines. Beware, before that AMC used the SBC pattern for there engines. Where this really gets difficult is with the mounting of the front differential. The front diff on an Eagle is mounted to the engine block. There are ways around this too. Like build a plate to mount the front diff in between the engine crossmember and the fire wall. But then you have to have enough space for your exhaust and drive components. Custom engine mounts will also be needed and fabbed into the existing crossmember. Crazy (mostly V8) swaps have been done to Eagles before and it can be done, they are just a ton of work. Also, Jeep T5s are also weak and can only handle about 250hp.......same for the NP128 transfer case. Don’t let this discourage you, you should totally do this and share it with the internet for all to bathe in it’s glory.

“AMC used the ford bellhousing pattern”

Crap, they did? I figured the Iron Duke used the same GM Metric pattern as every other 1980+ Duke.

T” car runs and drives but can be a bit sluggish. The Select Drive switches to 4 Wheel Drive just fine. We just had the timing gear replaced and it may need some carb or timing adjustment. It needs new CV axles and just recently developed a new gear grinding sound when moving that needs to be researched and fixed.”

Uhh, nah. If you’re asking $7500 for an AMC Eagle, it’d better be mechanically sound.

The Duke uses the SBC engine side pattern and goes to a Ford T5 style on the transmission side. A MC was always the parts bin cars from the big three, so there were a variety of parts used. 1980s(1982-3 and after) AMCs are the best places to find bellhousings for GM 60 degree (metric) engine side that goes to ford T5 transmissions. You could try to put WC or Cobra gears into a Jeep T5, it will be stronger. Also, G-Force makes performance T5s, but I’ve never used one and the tail housing will need to be modified to fit the transfer case .
