Therefore, it will be extremely popular. Ford will sell a lot of these.

yep. they were never going to buy one anyway, so they don’t matter.
Enthusiasts don’t like facing the reality that they don’t really matter.

Actually looks decent from this angle (in this render).
I don’t understand the not-grille opening. Seems like they could’ve handled that better.

The fender/door shoulders & creases won’t actually be that pronounced.
And no black body cladding around the wheels, thankfully.

I think it’ll actually look incredibly okay in person.
For a Mustang fan, it could be a nice daily in their fleet - can’t say I’d mind having one of those parked next to a PP GT, GT350 or GT500 .

It’s possible that Ford did the math and saw that an “electric Macan” isn’t a terrible idea... The Macan sells like gangbusters for Porsche and, in GTS Form, goes like stink.
Ford may have figured this was a good place to launch their latest EV effort— in the space that the Macan occupies, so the “sporty-ish” pretensions of the Mustang fit the marketing objective.
Or, maybe they just shat upon a 55 year heritage, as Ford has been known to do.

Or maybe they just hate boomers

Could be both.
I still remember the time Ford decided to ditch the Taurus badge (and ‘retro’ back to “500" as a brand) when incoming CEO Mulally did a “WTF are you doing?” and had them immediately go back to Taurus.

Small crossover are pure Boomer territory, at least in my neck of the woods. Especially the upscale ones. I almost can’t even envision this thing without gray hair behind the wheel.

I have no problem with the concept or even the name usage. I do have a problem with overcrowding the segment with another “large footprint, small interior” car.
It’s like they took the C-Max playbook and said “Let’s do the opposite!”
This is as close to a sedan as you can get for a company that doesn’t do sedans anymore.

The only thing I find odd is the use of the mustang name, otherwise, yeah, it’s going to sell great, but why sully the mustang name? Mothball it if you must, but so be it.

Maybe. It still remains to be proven that Ford and their dealers are
genuinely interested in selling BEVs.

COMPLETELY agree here.... in my area the beginning of the end was the RX Lexus. They like “the sporty pretension”, plus ride height and easy to get in and out of with failing hips and knees.

I think it looks pretty damn good and appealing to a vast segment of the population. Sure, probably not what enthusiasts will ever praise...but did it ever have a chance of doing so, outside of having been an electric Miata?
Numbers and pricing look pretty good, while I hate the tablets inside it’s what the masses think “is cool”, and the exterior styling hits a pretty good middle ground. Other than bastardizing the Mustang name, the vehicle itself is pretty compelling.

I almost find it ironic in our current era of weird mass-media cultural/generational wars that Boomers and GenZ/Young Millenials are often attracted to the same cars.
Remember the Honda Element? “It’s hip! It’s funky! It’s not your mother’s car!”
Your mother: “Oh, that has great visibility and a low floor! Sign me up.”

Yeah, I see that all the time.
Check out your “average” Crosstrek owner... from outdoorsy 20-something females to 80 year old retired couples seeking “something practical and reliable”.
I think there’s a “psychology” element that transcends age— and it’s probably key to the intangibles at the heart of marketing. Buick’s “age problem” is more about the cars than the age of the owners— ie the owner demographic is a symptom, not the cause.

I like it. Affordable e-tron. I drove the e-tron, and loved it. I love the styling of this. I hope Ford’s next move will be electrifying the entire Lincoln line-up with this same platform.

I’m holding my order until they come out with a Boss 429 version. Not sure exactly what that will entail, but that’s fine.

Meh ... from the teaser picture I thought it would a 3-door and “off roady” but in a Safari 911 way. I’m sure it will sell but not excited anymore.
