"Phyrxes once again has a wagon!" (phyrxes)

Looks like its time to replace the battery in one of our CX-5's keyfobs. If I can follow a youtube video (published by a Mazda dealer, thanks guys) do I need to do anything fancy or just swap the battery and go about my business?

I’ve never had to do anything other than take it apart and swap the batteries and then reassemble. I’ve never done a Mazda but that was all that was required for the Ford and Toyota ones I’ve done. Also usually if you buy the battery at a car part store they’ll even swap it for you. Usually they aren’t that hard to do yourself though.

Swap the battery. Mazda key fobs have nothing special to worry about.

Nope just pry apart gently, the plastic deforms easily, I use a pocket screwdriver.

That is the plan, I even have the right battery laying around.

Swap that’s all. It’s most likely a 2032 or 2016

The video was 2025 and I have 2025 and 2032 so I guess I’ll find out.

The 2025 is 2.5mm thick and the 2032 is 3.2mm thick. So most likely both will fit

My wife replaced the battery in her CX-5 keyfob herself. No biggie. It didn’t like the cheapo Chinese battery she found in my stash though, so she went out and bought a name brand one. W orked fine with a good battery.

Easily swapped, it was a CR2025 and it seems to be working fine.
