Do you have a favorite road that few others like to drive? Mine is narrow and rolling with blind curves and a single pass-thru under a railroad bridge. Sometimes I have to stop for the deer to cross . Its a detour to avoid traffic and it barely adds two minutes to my commute. On days its snowing I avoid the idiots and heavy traffic so in that regard all the dangerous aspects of this road can be overlooked because its safer to be here than grouped with the white knuckled crazies.

Yes, it’s called the right lane. People avoid it like it’s the plague or something.

On the highways where I live the right lane can sometimes be the passing lane. Its never avoided just exploit ed. This is why I take the road less traveled.

Regrettably these are not roads remotely near my commute, but yes, I have some underutilized favorites.

In my 20s I used to take my dad’s Jeep on lots of adventures. I only regret the time I had to drive through a wheat field because of a road that was so bad I couldn’t climb back up a hill. The paint on the sides was streaked with scratches. I never damaged it other than that even those times it was in up to two feet of water I never hurt anything.

TBH I drive through the east side of Detroit to avoid highway traffic a lot. MANY suburbanites still swear by not driving through the bad parts of the city. Makes things easier for me.
