I’m looking for a tonneau cover for my gladiator to increase the dry storage a bit a nd want a hard cover so its locked and relatively secure with the stock tailgate lock. My options are listed below, ranked how i am currently looking at it, but wanted to see if i’m missing anything. I do not want to have to remove the cover to take the roof off, so thats an important step (my garage ceiling isn’t high enough to let me make a hoist).
Rollup Hard Cover- keeps everything dry and only raises the amount to lift the roof ~6/8 inches. A little pricey (requires the Jeep Trail Rail Kit at ~350), but seems to be the only option that allows me to use the full bed for something large(mulch, dressers), provides a secure place to store things (that would require as much work as breaking a window or prying a door open)
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! - keeps everything dry and barely raises the amount to lift the roof as it can support my weight and the roof weight (would need to pull it off of the deck then unto the tailgate then the ground). Price is good but I cant haul much unless I stack it ontop of the cover or remove the cover completely. Does have the added bonus that i could add storage to the sides or a rack easily.
Trifold Hardtop- keeps everything dry, but requires either a much higher lift or removal of cover to take the roof off. Price is good but I blocks the back window when folded up. It is easy to remove, but the less things i need to remove to take the roof off the better

I love my trifold cover, because it's super easy to take off by myself. Which I do a few times a year to haul scooters or bulk mulch.

I love this roll up. Works decently in the winter too.

How short is the back window? I’ll take a pic of my leather tri-fold folded up later today but its never blocked my view (96 k1500). The tail gate is more in the way.
Im not a huge fan of the roll ups as the last one i encountered was a pain to fully take off and put back on (could be easier now dont know)
There are also sliding hard covers that are super simple and low enough to probably be out of the way of the roof. But take up some bed room fully rolled up.
I just went with a tri-fold because it’s simple to take off an on. And with how many people I have moved, a box spring barely fits the whole length as is. Though I don’t have a removable top

All of the ones i’ve seen so far are 3-6 inches lower than the roofline of the gladiator and definitely block the back window.

Yeah I wouldn't stand on it but nicely made. It unclips at 2 points by the tailgate inside so you can't get in when tailgate is locked.

I also went with the cheap vinyl tri-fold. Can have the whole thing off in 3 minutes and weighs almost nothing.

Well, I’m 99% that secured my decision. Thank you!

Yeah, i just dont want to add another step to roof removal, as that makes me less likely to remove it

Are you worried about someone cutting into a vinyl
cover and stealing whatever you’ve got inside? I park in a garage at home and at work, and don’t keep anything truly valuable in the bed anyway, so a cheap, vinyl tri-fold has worked well for me. Can have the whole thing off and stowed in 3 minutes.

Yeah- would prefer something more secure than vinyl so that i can leave some tools/misc things in their overnight while parked outside (my truck doesnt fit i the garage). Also, for longer roadtrips, would love to have something secure and mostly weather proof as well so we can divvy up the mileage between our cars
