Quick question I think I know the answer to but will ask anyways. Few days ago a city employee came out to tell me they’re replacing my water meter. 20 mins later tells me there’s a leak on the city side that he’d call in. Ever since then if not faucet has been running and I turn on a fau cet (cold only) or flush a toilet there's a quick sputter of air then some dirty water. Think I have an air leak at my meter? The house never showed any of these symptoms prior.

How long since it happened.  Not uncommon for some air to be introduced after some work is done, but it should work itself out fairly quickly.  If you are a few days or many flushes out the air should be purged by now.

The only way for air to be introduced is if pressure = 0 psig. Otherwise the water would squirt OUT at the leak. Only at equal or lower pressure would air get IN.

City dude probably cracked it open and you have some air trapped in the system that has to work its way out now. Run the tub or shower, both hot and cold, for 20 minutes or so.

Same thing happens when I shut off water to my house, weird colors and air purges for a few days

Couple of days. But I am only one person in the house so water use isn't as much as say a whole family.
