I believe I was brought home from the hospital in a brown turbo version of one of those.

Only minor rust issues? Is that possible with a GL? I thought they were half rusted through when they were new?

We all were, in spirit.
We had one in powder blue. It died before I got to drive it, by a year or two.

This is what I should have bought. Those wheels are great just by themselves. Who needs engine power or modern conveniences like air conditioning? (Me, actually.)

If that was Fairfax CA I would be there.

I paid $800 for my super clean ‘91 with a five speed and 4wd. Sold it after a few years for $2,600. Mine lived in Phoenix it’s whole life, so no rust. I purchased it from the original owner.

I remember riding in the back seat of one of these on the local dirt back roads, getting airborne and sideways... My mother was the car nut of my parents (her dad and brothers ran a shop/used car dealership together and her first car was an early 60's Chrysler 300, I don’t remember which letter, I don’t think it was an H....) Our’s was “Herb Green”, but otherwise identical to the one in the ad, year and all. We had an ‘80 GL wagon with the dual range and a winch before it.... Ah, memories...
I didn’t know any more of these existed that weren’t rusted in half... “rust repair in 2016" sounds sketchy to me unless it lived it’s whole life in Arizona (which it didn’t). ..

I don't recall the exact year my mom had, but it was power blue. Between soccer practices/games/tournaments and family vacations, I grew up in the damn thing.

My grandma did too. It was the slowest car I have ever driven and at the time I drove a 1982 Volvo 240.
