I’m pissed that disney + isn’t supported on Samsung devices. I’ll have to get a chrome cast and do it that way. This is one show I was looking forward to.

My understanding is that Boba Fett was a Mandalorian, while this guy is another Mandalorian. Boba Fett never got to be the badass he was supposed to be in SW; in fact, he was shown to be kind of a doofus . S o I guess this makes up for it.

Oh. I always thought he exuded the right amount of menace for the plot as required.

To me, the galaxy is a big place, and I don’t understand this apparent need to somehow connect everything by some thread back to the original movies or their characters. But hey, that doesn’t mean this can’t be a good show. I wasn’t planning to spend money on Disney+ though.

I thought Boba/Jango Fett wasn’t a Mandalorian, he just wore Mandalorian armor. I might need to brush up on my Star Wars fandom, though.

EDIT: According to the Wookiepedia, Jango was, in fact, Mandalorian.

Could be. I don’t know. So much changed between BF’s original appearance back in the day to Jango Fett and his  NZ accent. It would be entirely plausible for BF’s entire history to have changed in the intervening years as Lucas vainly struggled to close gaping plot holes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the word “Mandalorian” never existed until Lucas thought up JF. He changed so much on the fly that he created massive problems for the storyline.

Mandalorians go pretty far back in Star Wars history and their mentions predate the prequels. They are easily the most fleshed out culture in legends by a far bit.

As far as Boba goes, before the prequels and his history was more known it was just noted that he wore Mandalorian armor but it was unsure where he got it or if he was a Mandalorian himself.

Damn. I was hoping it would suck so I wouldn’t have to pay for another streaming service. Already got Amazon to watch Jack Ryan, HBO for Game of Thrones..... didn’t I cut cable to avoid this crap? Now instead of 212 cable channels I’ll have 47 different streaming services. Ah modern conveniences.

Rebels and the Clone Wars series did a good job explaining what the Mandalorians were all about, and had a couple of great characters.

I can’t tell you what to do. But I will say that this is already my favorite show since Better Call Saul. The feeling is right.

The CG is great.The cast is amazing (from what I’ve read... very few of them are in the first ep). Jon Favreau knows how to make some good stuff.

And, WTF, Werner Herzog!?

Okay, I’m just not up on the extended universe (which I consider to be anything outside the Star Wars movies proper and their novelizations).  When I was a kid, I read a bunch of those novels, mostly about Solo’s pre-movie exploits, but not since then.

Very good indeed.

I knew they were doing weekly releases but my wife didn’t. When the first episode ended she was searching for the “go to next episode option” and then navigating through the app. Gave me a good chuckle.
