They just want to help you start your oil filter collection. It’s the next big thing.

Ebay is the worst for me personally. Say I order a set of mats for a Vauxhall Corsa, after the purchase, ebay will recommend mats for a Toyota Avensis, SEAT Altea, etc... WHY?

Who’s ordering mats for a specific car and then going, ‘oh ye’, shit, I better get mats for random cars just in case’.

I have ordered fair amount of car parts through Amazon. This has never stopped annoying me. I’ve added my cars to their garage... why can’t it assume if I’m looking for a car part there’s a good chance it might actually be for something I own?

well.. what if you have both cars... you order shit for car 1 and different shit for car 2. Ebay goes - well shit, you bought it together. Anyone buying item 1 or item 2 will get suggestion for item 2 and item 1

T hing is I order things for a multitude of cars for colleagues who ask me to order the parts or accessories rather than me telling them what to get and they get the wrong thing. I order it and usually put them in and they give me the money for it.

But it never gets the cars right. I never glance at the suggested items and go, ‘oh shit, yes. I need windscreen wash for the Mini too!’.

Yeah. I don’t know why their algo looks at other people’s purchases. I guess it sorta makes sense... you bought toilet paper. maybe you need toothpaste too. Those people over there did.

With cars that algo doesn’t really apply. Amazon has a garage feature. Like you, I have family and friends for whom I get parts and install. beats asking them what year and trim shitbox they have every time they need something.

Ama zon: Buy it again!

Me : Thanks Amazon but I don’t foresee me needing another new air intake boot section anytime soon.
