My fridge prominently features this, Narragansett, and Coors Banquet.
I make up for my cheap beer taste with my actual home bar, which currently includes a bottle of Casamigos Reposado, Grand Marnier (which is honestly there purely for making margaritas), Redemption Rye, Talisker 10, Grey Goose ( im not a vodka guy, but I like having it in case I have...uh...bedroom guests) , and a bottle of absinthe.

Welp, I brought my kid to the Dr and walked over 10k in the process,so I came home and cracked a tallboy of Nutty Uncle, followed by a tallboy of Lightouse Coffee Lager, followed by a half dozen of my neighbors Pacific Pilsners.
Then my wife came home and we went for a re-up. G rabbed 6 to replenish the neighbors stash, but got dragged to McDonalds. I didn’t go in, so sat in the car and annoyed the neighborhoood with Bass House whilst drinking 4 of those 6.
The rest are chilling in the fridge. I may or may not continue. Depends on how entertaining Oppo is this evening, I suspect.
Still haven’t made it next door to return those borrowed beers, so they may be SOL for the time being. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Oooh, some good stuff in the bar! One of these days I need to get a bottle of absinthe - haven’t had it in years. Not something I’d ever drink regularly though.
I’ve got a variety of bourbon (JW Dant, New Holland Beer Barrel, Jim Beam double oaked, and Jefferson’s Ocean), Plymouth and Bombay Sapphire, Russian Standard, a couple of tequilas, a couple of rums, Teeling and Tullamore DEW, and the usual assortment of Frangelico and a few others.
I’ve never had Narragansett -typical cheap beer, or ? Ever had Old Style? That’s the area old man beer around Chicago. I like it a little better than others because I’ve been tasting it since I was about 10, LOL.

a few IPAs at the Red Wings game. afterward went to a nearby bar to tie one on and get a bite, but had to bail from the noise and the jostling. I hate bars.

And I would ask if the Red Wings won, but they seem to be even worse than my Hawks this year.
Well, we’ve both enjoyed some great years with those teams - 2019-20 will not be one of them.

they won tonight. I’m trying to put together a mini trip this winter to see at least a Hawks game and maybe a Blue Jackets game. My only trips to Chicago have been to the Ford plant (not exactly a happenin’ part of town) so I don’t know where to go. I’d like to arrive the day of a Hawks game, check in, get a ride from the hotel to the United Center, then a ride back to stay overnight.

Nice! But are you sure you have enough to deal with that?
I got a bottle of the double oaked a while back - I enjoyed it, but it’s long gone. Currently working down this bottle of JW Dant, then the Beer Barrel Bourbon - once those are gone, I’ll need to get either Maker’s or Woodford for my go to.

That’s an excellent plan - I’d recommend having an early dinner along Randolph Street or somewhere before the game, there’s a ton of great restaurants and it’s fairly close to the UC. Hell, I’ve walked back to the Loop after Hawks games.
The Ford plant is in the middle of nowhere, despite being inside city limits.

Never had old style. Another personal favorite of mine is Natty Boh. My grandparents have had a beach house in Ocean City, MD my entire life, so a snuck can of that during a family vacation is the first beer I ever had. I know it’s not currently made, but Olympia is my bucket list beer, Big Oly and the Olympia Charger are literally my 2 favorite racing vehicles of all time, so I want to taste the brew that payed for them.

Never had Natty Boh - I’m a Chicago area native. I swear that Oly was sold here when I was in high school though - a guy in my class was nicknamed Oly. His name was Olson, but I swear he drank Oly too. I don’t recall what it was like - not that I gave a shit when I was 17.
First beer I had was Old Style, thanks to my old man. First time I was ever really drunk though, was on a combination of Schmidt and Schaefer Light, up in the North Woods of Wisconsin.

this is the absolutely best sounding car ever made imo, and that noise alone has single handedly garunteed that when I see a 12er of Olympia, I’ll be buying it. I know they stopped brewing the OG stuff around ‘99, Pabst bought the name and started up making it again in like ‘14 or so, but I know last year there was a lawsuit over them not using real mountain water but advertising it as such and there was a fire at their new brewery in CA, so I’m not sure if it’s currently being made. I checked the beer finder on their website and the closest places to me they had listed were 2 elks clubs. One in central PA and one near the finger lakes in NY.
as for Natty Boh, it is to the Chesapeake region what Narragansett is to coastal New England. Cheap, refreshing, full of hometown pride.

Oh, sorry for the way that sounded. Wasn’t an emergency, just a prescription refill. The boy has some pretty bad eczema and his dr is leaving for 6 months or so so we needed to have enough lotion on hand . He’s AOK otherwise though. Mom had the car. He slept while dad nearly keeled over walking uphill. Good thing they stuck us in the waiting room for 90 minutes despite having an appointment for noon. H ad they pu t me right in the dr probably would have admitted me, or at least wondered why I was pouring so much sweat on a 50 degree f day.

Walking distance might be a stretch - but you can stay in River North or maybe the Loop and it’s a short cab/Uber. I recommend River North - it’s a little further but the Loop is a ghost town after 7pm.

Not drinking it (yet), but my 2019 non-denominational holiday brew is almost done. A dark as night Imperial Stout aged in charred American oak that was seasoned in a mix of 2/3rds coffee liqueur and 1/3rd Jameson. It’s been rather difficult to not sneak a tiny bit out for a non-carbonated taste test, but so far my resolve has held. Should be fully ready on 12/1/19!
And since that is off the table, I’m sticking to my new favorite cheap blended scotch and watching my doggo run circles in the back yard.

As I approached the crest of the hill, $10k might not have sounded unreasonable. I literally put the strap that’s attached to the stroller around my wrist jus t because I was slightly worried that I might die enroute and he might roll away.

Now I have an urge for a Guinness...

Guinness was my first beer I drank, and I realize now it’s because it has little flavor, while still having a cool factor . I still like nitro beers, but I haven’t had a Guinness in years. Can still imagine the taste vividly.
