I know the feeling of the one-eyed lense boring a hole into your soul. The first time I did something in front of a camera it seemed like I forgot how to speak English (or any other language) and the footage of me was a suffering mess that couldn’t be used in that documentary.
I did another camera thing a couple of years ago that went better. CSPAN’s Cities Tour did a segment that featured me talking about what I do in archives with political papers. When they filmed it I actually talked for over two hours to get what was ultimately a five minute segment of the show. It wasn’t amazing, but with the magic of editing and a better producer filming it I didn’t come off as an incoherent idiot that time.

Well done. You would think this subject would bore the entire world to tears, but I was interested. Maybe I’m just a big ole nerd?
