First a wireless keyboard craps out on me and now my laptop wanted to nuke itself. Yes I'm aware it's not a good idea to run a laptop on wall power 24/7 but this was a temporary situation while my office is being renovated. At least it gives me an excuse to go play with the servers.

If you poke it with something sharp you get the rest of the day off.

If I was at the office I’d have no problem repeatedly accidentally knocking it off my desk. But unfortunately we’re currently located in my living room temporary office.

I don’t have any sources handy, but I’m pretty sure this hasn’t been true for many years. It used to be true that that constant trickle change would wear out batteries faster, but my understanding is that with current chargers and battery chemistry, letting the battery run down fully will harm battery health, but leaving it plugged in isn’t much of an issue anymore.

Even more so if you spill a glass of water on it after poking it.
