I have made some boring but mature decisions.

No Regal TourX for me, at least not now. I just can’t stomach taking out another loan, no matter how small. My 6 is still a great car and is paid off, after all.

The 6 is the perfect car for me, minus two features: remote start and heated seats. The lack of those has annoyed me since the day I brought the car home just over four years ago. Well, I’m remedying that effective today.

I just scheduled an installation of a Compustar remote start system on Thursday the 14th . I’ll be able to start and shut off the car with my phone - which is helpful, because I have to park about a mile away (or so it seems) from my office at work.

And, I’m going to a local upholstery shop to have heated seats installed on my birthday (Wednesday the 13th) . With those two things done, I will have a 2016 car with 45,000 miles, zero car payment, and all the features I want.

I can make the 6 work space-wise with two kids (we’re planning on trying for another). And, we have the Highlander for trips and such.

So, Sylvia the 6 is sticking around for a while.

Those two things are my gripe also.

Okay, but if your wife manages to trade in the Highlander while you still have the 6, I’m gonna call shenanigans!

“I just scheduled an installation of a Viper SmartStart remote start system on Sunday the 17th. I’ll be able to start and shut off the car with my phone - which is helpful”

As an guy with 20+ years of IT experience, shit like that doesn’t sit well with me.

My thought is that if you can remotely start/stop your car that easily, there is a chance that someone else could as well... unless the software came from a company known for flawless, bug-free, secure software.

And I wouldn’t consider ‘Viper’ to be one of those companies.

I installed a remote starter that works over 3G In my 2017 forester.

Kinja'd!!!

I love it. My parking at work is too far for a normal remote starter, and when I carpool my car is parked half way between my house and job(30 min drive)

So about 5 minutes before I get to my car I can start it.

I went with a Fortin with EvoStart 2(Free to use, but works only in Quebec and Ontario)

Cost me about 400 cnd

That remote start will make you love the 6 even more!

Meh. Someone wants to steal it that badly, they will find a way. I have full coverage insurance. I live in a small town with low crime rates and the 6 isn’t high on the “frequently stolen cars” list.

She adores that thing, so I doubt it’s going anywhere.

It’s like $6 a month so I can stomach that.

I should’ve just went with a Grand Touring trim level in the first place.  I’d have already had heated seats and remote start could’ve been added by the dealer when I bought it. Oh well. Live and learn.

We have remote start on the minivan. We always forget to use it.

Heated seats are nice, but cooled seats are more important here.

Thanks. I agree. I think this design, first introduced in early 2013 as a 2014 model, still looks pretty good.

It’s a wonderful car, really. Has been great to me. The brakes were a sucky part but I solved that with some Raybestos replacements.

Good for you! On the other hand I’ve been looking at replacing my perfectly capable Suburban with a newer one or a Expedit ion Max because I want 4WD. For one trip a year where I *might* need 4WD.

I really wish I would have just been more patient when I bought my current ‘burb and found 4WD. Patience is not a virtue I possess.

Very good looking car. I am at about 62K on my 2015 Grand Touring. I have the heated seats (in my opinion, all leather seats should be heated or you should be found in violation of the Hague Convention), but not the remote start. Internet connected things wig me out, so happy to skip that one myself.
I actually prefer the first face of the current generation 6s to the updated grill.
