they don’t have shields so road gunk would render them inop fast. they’re reed horns so the disc reed needs to be able to “float” freely. any debris will seize them up.

if it was taken with an iPhone, Apple put in some pretty effective automatic gain control on the mic input. I’ve never heard mine clip, it just compresses more.
