The Golf R is a 100% an “if I could I would” situation for me. The hardest part would be the picking the color. I’d say this owner did a good job

My MK7 GTI has been trouble free thus far. And I have seen people posting online with over 100k on theirs without needing to do anything beyond scheduled maintenance.

I don’t plan on keeping mine past 100k miles at the most, but they seem to be pretty good up to that point. Water pumps and sunroof leaks seem to be the most common issues. Better that than bad  timing chains

That’s part of the reason I’d take a Golf R over a Civic Type R any day. That and the Civic  isn’t a hatchback .

The Civic Type R is a hatchback. It’s the Si that is a sedan or coupe.

I’d still take it and work on fabricating functional and less ugly body panels as well as bumpers and fenders and such that reduce  weight, allow for better airflow and don’t look like straight ass. That, or just get the damn Golf R
