A bunch of kick ass death and black metal. If you’re throwing a Halloween party tonight, I’ve started your playlist for you. You’re welcome!

(also, some videos maybe NSFL (not safe for life, nevermind work).

If you’ve got any other creep, black, evil metal, post it up!

I object to your lack of Ghost.

Rats chosen for being something appropriately creepy without being something I don’t want on my work search history.

Wow Opeth at red rocks had to have been great! I loved seeing a show there recently even if it definitely wasnt my type of music. Just the venue was cool enough to make up for the EDM repetitive stuff. I did enjoy when a lightning storm rolled through in the distance though and really fit the light show they had going with the music.

Thanks for the addition, I knew I forgot something!! !

I love this recording of Ritual. Supposedly Dave Grohl is playing drums in this cut.

Also, m y work search history is so f’d, and I don’t care.

I can only imagine how good it would be.  I’ve seen them in New York twice, first was at a smaller venue, somewhere near the Intrepid, can’t remember the name (I was super drunk the whole day), for their Evolution XX tour.  Then I saw them again for Evolution XXV and it was AMAZING!

I don’t think we will ever get a straight answer about if Dave Grohl actually played drums for Ghost or not. It’s become a bit of a legend at this point and I don’t mind that.

I’m going to be doing a Ghost dump when I get home.

If you’re going to do Halloween Metal you can’t forget Iron Maiden. That’s their whole raison d’etre .

Great addition!  I love Iron Maiden.  I saw them live for the first time in 2017 and it’s probably the best concert I’ve ever been to!  I was just blown away by how hard those guys bring it, and they aren’t spring chickens anymore.  I can only imagine what they were like live back in their heyday!

Was it at Terminal 5? I think that is in that area and having seen Gojira play there, I could only imagine that Opeth would have played there too at some point. Pretty cool venue but yeah nothing compared to a place like red rocks haha.

It very well could have been Terminal 5 , I was seriously lit and barely remember the show. We left Maryland at like 6 AM because my one friend insisted it took “10 hours” to drive to NYC. We eventually stopped arguing and just appeased him, so it took 5 hours like we told him and we got there at 11 am . We tried to go to the Daily Show but it was slammed because Steve Carell was the guest that day. So we were hungry and wandered around and found a joint called “1,2,3 Burgers, Shots & Beers”. As the name implies, they had $1 sliders, a $2 shot menu, and mini beers (the little 7.5 oz bottles) were $3 each or 6 for $15. The 3 of us left with a $215 tab. We then stood in line at the venue, started to feel something like sobriety approaching, so I remembered passing a liquor store on our way there, and ran back and purchased a quart of rum. We brown bagged it in line until they opened the rooftop bar at the venue. My last real conscious memory was some guy trying to buy weed from me at the bar, which was weird because not only do I not have weed, this was literally the day after I got discharged from the military and looked the antithesis of a stoner. The next thing I really clearly remember, we were in Philidelphia. My friend decided it was a reasonable detour (it was not) on the way home to go there and get cheese steaks from Pat’ s & Geno’ s. I ate an entire steak from each one. Pats tastes more like a cheese steak and less like jingoist xenophobia, so they get my nod. It was a great concert trip, wouldn’t trade it for the world!

More punk than metal, but they were on Metal Blade records...

Back in the late 80s/early 90s I lived in LA and dug the punk/alternative/pre-grunge/industrial noise scene. One of the most entertaining shows I ever saw was by Haunted Garage. Led by immortal Elvis impersonator Dukey Flyswatter, the show featured Dukey getting a giant Elvis gut being cut open by a live chainsaw, an encore featuring topless slime wrestling in a kiddie pool (see around 12:15 in the video below for the same gals and the same song “Bitch Like You”) and copious amounts of stage blood sprayed all over the audience (I had no clue what I was getting into and wore a white shirt of some sort while standing right at the stage - oops).

Here’s a Youtube link for a full show:

Haha well with those details, it definitely sounds like the place. Sounds like a fun trip. I had gone there after doing a full day of canyon carving at bear mountain so no drinking for me. So it was a more memorable experience. And thankfully only about an hour or so to get home once I got out of the city.
