The funny thing is that some of the brands have been related in the past.
- Citroën owned Maserati and had it go bust when Citroën was being incorporated in Peugeot (due to the oil crisis).
- Chrysler sold it’s European branch to Peugeot after it ruined Rootes and Simca by merging them, which turned into Peugeots budget Talbot brand.
- Fiat sold Peugeot and Citroën based vans for a long time, switched to Opel based vans a few years ago in their GM loving years, and now they will all be one...
So it will be interesting to see what will happen next.

how would you re-organize it? what brands would you take to North America and which would you bring to Europe?
Opel and Vauxhall need to become Vauxel and never come to NA. FIAT professional (and quite frankly FIAT) need to get OUT of NA. FIAT is languishing and FIAT professional products have no business in our fleets. They are abjectly terrible and Nissan has the cheap and terrible fleet market locked up already.
Citroen should come to NA. The world needs a fashion forward cush make since everyone is going “sporty”
Chrysler needs to die the death everywhere.
Having Lancia, Masarati and and Alfa is silly since there aren’t enough volumes in any of them to justify existence, especially when they are competing against themselves in a dying market (sedans)

Group the company into business units with “twinned” brands that share development resources, but are either geographically segregated or pitched at different demographics within the same price range, so as to minimize overlap.
1. Budget Price/Economy - Fiat
Aimed at developing markets and budge shoppers - think Dacia, Lada, Datsun, Skoda (to an extent), also continue to use on commercial vehicles
2 . Low Price/Mainstream Field - Dodge/Opel/Vauxhall/Citroen
Dodge - restricted to North America & handful of other markets where its already stronger than Opel
Opel - restricted to Europe & other markets where its better known than Dodge
Vauxhall - UK & Crown Dependancies only, reevaluate after 5 years or so to see if its justified in keeping at all, or fold into Opel
Citroen - emphasize quirkiness, smooth ride, fashion-forward French design, sell in Europe and North America
3 . Medium Price Field - Chrysler/Peugeot*/Lancia
Chrysler - restricted to North America, maybe handful of other places
Peugeot - Europe & most global markets outside North America
Lancia - Italy only, reevaluate after 5 years or so to see if justified in keeping, discontinue, or sell as part of Maserati/Alfa divestiture
*PSA has been trying to move Peugeot above Citroen in the pecking order for a few years now, so I suppose that’s where they want it to wind up eventually.
4 . Luxury - Maserati/DS/Alfa Romeo
Maserati - primary global luxury brand, focus on traditional comfort - evaluate after 5 years or so to see if it should be retained, or sold
DS - Europe only, differentiate from Maserati by focusing on smaller/fuel efficient and electric luxury cars with “quiet elegance” - reevaluate after 5 years to see if worth keeping, or folding back into Citroen, or keep as sole luxury brand in event of Maserati/Alfa divestiture. If retained after that point, develop globally - including North America, pending successful Citroen launch there.
Alfa Romeo - global “sports” luxury brand - reevaluate after 5 years to see if it should be kept or sold
5 . Light Trucks - Ram & Jeep - no real changes, maybe evaluate whether Ram stays as a separate marque or folds back into Dodge.
Possible sale or spin off after 5-6 years: Alfa Romeo/Maserati/Lancia, if repositioning of Peugeot and continued development of DS are successful, and if turnaround at Alfa & Maserati doesn’t really take.
