Maybe this guy has just been rear ended one too many times.

Kinja'd!!!

And on the flip side. Smoked tailights and a sticker obscuring   the CHMSL. This Jetta had clean white 17” wheels, and all the factory chrome badging. I’ll give him one point for not going full “ murdered out”.

given the “Engineers Local” sticker and the amber lights, I’d wager he uses that truck for work, parks it at roadside when on the job, and those rack lights double as safety strobe lights when parked.

I’d rather see the zillion lights than the pulsing CHMSL apparently adored by the nervous Civrolla/Camdcord/CRAV4 crowd.

Our local VW dealer pre-installs those flasher relays on every car on the lot, then charges $500 for them. Apparently it also includes some supplemental insurance that pays if you’re ever rear-ended, which probably explains how dealers can even sell such a gimmick.

I’m guessing a lot of dealers are doing this, even though I don’t see them much anymore. I’ve never heard of DIY install before.

Too bad that those flashing CHMSL are illegal, which is why we don’t get the logic programmed into our cars here.

They are fine for turn signals or Christmas lights.

No doubt the overcautious set is easily sold on them with an insurance scheme like that.  I haven’t seen them DIY, but I seem to see them most often on newish midrange Honyotas, maybe a Hyunkia here and there too.
