In our never ending saga of Republicans vs Democrats, the latest chapter.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
As the House of Representatives is controlled by Democrats, this is the latest step that will most likely end up with the President being impeached.
Presidents aren’t typically impeached, so I’ll be watching and trying to pay close attention. Who knows when it will happen again.
Regardless of your feelings towards the sitting President, impeachments are rare and this one might provide a civic’s lesson brush up from middle school

I think in this increasingly polarized environment impeachments will be more likely in the future . If anyone deserves it though, it’s Trump

That’s unfortunate if you are right.

Impeachment, but likely not removal:
Conviction in the Senate requires a two-thirds supermajority vote of those present. The result of conviction is removal from office.

True. Impeachment is the equivalent of being charged. I suspect this will end up like Clinton. Impeached but found not-guilty - so to speak.

I think I stayed on the facts of the actual proceedings vs saying whether it is right or wrong. Isn’t that the dividing line?

This week Mexico’s congress made impeachment easier to carry out by removing some special legal protections for Presidents.

Still political bu t partisan neutral. If I talk about Supras and the 2JZ and say it’s a inline 6 from Toyota it’s still about Supras but I have no bias for or against.
If you don't think word precision matters much you can just look at his tweets I guess

All they have to do is get him on the stand and his rambling should show everyone he’s dangerously unstable.

You’d certainly think so, but having it under oath and in the official record is awfully handy.

It very well could. As we learned in 2016, literally no such thing as bad press.

Impeachment motivates his base, may make more GOP voters come to his defense if they buy his “witch hunt” claims, and possibly will sway independents his way, depending on how much weight they put in the validity of the claims against him. Pair that with a D candidate who’s less than exciting or too far left for independents, and...

Will clearly get the votes to impeach in the house, but while there will probably be a few defections towards prosecution in the senate (maybe Romney, Collins, depending on how their fates play out) but not enough to remove from office.
It’s a matter of – do you do what is right and hold him accountable, even if the senate doesn’t go along with it, to get the facts out, and maybe it will at the very least help people make a more informed decision at the ballot box next year (of course, based on partisanship this could backfire supremely as well), OR do you realize the senate won’t vote to remove from office and do nothing, thereby emboldening the orange one even further to get even crazier, having learnt just how much he can get away with.
Personally I think it’s the right move, and come next November if we STILL have him in office…geez, I guess it’s just what we deserve as a country. The thought of him getting a second term, with no worries about re-election, and feeling completely “vindicated” even after all this…terrifying.
