25 minutes to extricate from two vehicles that heavily damaged? That is some solid work right there...

That Impala got..... “JACKED UP”.
Wow, every time someone argues with me about how cheesy modern cars are made and how body on frame is the only solid choice for safety, I wish to show them pictures like this. The Impala was a 5 star NHTSA safety rated car, but still, its crazy cheep and clearly modern technology saved these folks lives.

If you have an old you car you don’ t want, you can donate it to the fire department for vehicle extraction training. really neat to see.

Yeah, that’s super true. I-ll give you a perfect real-world example. One of the last wrecks I responded to before I left the fire department in 2011 was a late-model Accord head-on versus a late 70's Cutlass. Both driver’s belted. Cut the driver of the Accord out, transported with some busted ribs and a broken ankle. The Cutlass driver took 30 minutes to get out, both legs crushed, feet pinned under the dash against the firewall, steering column into his chest. He died enroute to the ER. That Accord was SMASHED, but the passenger compartment remained relatively intact, took about ten minutes to get him out. The Cutlass had the motor pushed into the firewall, which drove the steering column into the driver, folded the dash down into his legs, took about thirty minutes to get him out. Heavy old car versus smaller newer car was no comparison...
