I got it all apart, then I started putting it back together. Rear head, oil pan, front/rear main seals are all back on:

With the rear back together, I decided to get the front head on as well. That’s when I noticed it was missing a temp sender hole. Off to my Grandpa’s shop I went. We added a .332" hole and tapped it for 1/8 NPT to accept my old motor’s temp sender:

Now to get another set of head bolts ( long story ) and get it all back together.

Sadly the weather decided it wasn’t going to cooperate, so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get it in, but it will be ready when that time comes.

ew, fiber/graphite head gaskets.  No MLS gaskets available for that engine?

They’re MLS gaskets with a graphite coating.

I think the extra 30hp/65ft-lbs over what I have now will be sufficient.

Now, see, you can replace the engine as-is and just *think* it will be sufficient, or you can slap one of these bad boys on it and *know* it will be sufficient.

if there’s graphite involved they’re not MLS. MLS gaskets look like this and have a Viton coating:

My old 3.8 was sufficient and this one makes more power and torque than my old one. It will be perfect.
