From what I can see in the string, someone from Motor Trend went on Fox and Friends (FnF) for a story. Not sure what the segment was about, but the Jalop folks are offended because they see FnF as an inflammatory super-right wing show and say MT never should have gone on FnF because FnF = bad. So Jalop is saying “don’t go on the bad people’s show because the exposure you got isn’t worth sacrificing your morals ” and MT is saying “go away kid, you’re small blip on the internet and don’t really understand”.

What most journalists need to realize is post people’s political views are somewhere in the middle, and do not dictate major decisions in their lives. I enjoy reading about cars on the internet, I do not enjoy political discourse. It bothers me to no end that everything these days has a political bent. Even relatively mundane articles have some biting incendiary polarizing bullshit attached to them that makes it seem like our whole American existence is US vs. Them.

I don’t know the political opinions of most of the people I associate with, and I could truly care less. In my experience, people who engage in the identity politics and extreme views of either side are the most unpleasant to be around.

Meh, it just reminds us that the days of responsible, professional journalism, with it’s written and unwritten rules of conduct, are largely gone (if they weren’t an illusion to start with). They are replaced by bloggers who throw their personal views, biases, and feuds out into the ether without restraint or self-editing.

Too much of what we now see as reporting of news is largely cherry-picking facts from other news outlets to support a specific argument. We used to call them editorials and put them in a separate section.

That was an extremely entertaining thread full of unprofessionalism to the level of middle school tantrums.

It’s pretty dumb to turn down a network morning show, even if you don’t agree with their politics. That thread should have ended after the first few responses. But considering how political Jalop has gotten in the past few months, this was expected. If you are willing to die (go bankrupt) on your political philosophies, don't expect others to do the same as you.

Yes, my actual dad, who I loved dearly but is the reason I consider Fox’s talking- head-type shows to be so toxic. It was heartbreaking to see how angry he’d get at what was being said on TV, just kind of whipped into a Big Mad by the talking head du jour.
