This has been a pet peeve of mine for awhile. Why not just have—wait for it—a button that says launch control on it. Boom. Press button, hold brake, hold gas, release brake.
Or even simpler, have launch control automatically activate whenever the ecu gets a full brake depression and throttle application at the same time.

Yeah, the second one. What other reason is there to hold gas and brake like that?

Yeah, you wouldn't want launch control getting in the way of a good burn out.

Because you're about to drive into a quicky mart trying to burn up new tires?

so my tuned fost is just that. if you are stopped with the brake depressed, floor it and launch control automatically holds the revs right where you tell it to on the programmer.

but if you use launch control and then stand in the brakes it should be a good burnout

‘ole stop & go auto hold (auto engine stop on off)((burnouts are tough if the car is off))

I’m sure it’s a warranty/product liability thing. Can’t imagine launch control being gentle on drivetrain components and I doubt Kia wants to openly encourage abuse

I think holding brake and throttle should trigger the ECU to shut down the engine or return to idle as a safety against unintended acceleration. Might have even come out of the Prius lawsuits. The hoops to put it in launch mode is your version of telling the car you really want to do what you are telling it to do.

Lawyers. The process has to be sufficiently arcane to prevent Joe Sixpack from accidentally engaging it and launching himself into a school.

My personate pet peeve is if you use it on some cars it immediately voids the warranty. Then why put it on the car? It’s a feature I won’t u se.

I just read the article on the GT500 on the FP, and the Mustang does your second idea:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Although it sounds like you have to switch it into Drag Mode first (switch, flip, select, press, however you do it).
