The clear coat is still tacky, but rolled up for a perspective it looks good.

Sweet, white looks really good on a red car.

Since  mine is white, the wheels couldn’t be. So as I did with the mags I painted them gold

Kinja'd!!!

3-4 coats gold 2-3 coats clear, then a week after compound then wax

I installed them yesterday

I'm the case of gold would look not great on the red paint. I tried it last year, but looked terrible. The rattle can paint job looks great from 20ft away, up close it terrible.

The secret is surface prep.

In the case of my gold painted Orem steelies, I sanded them first, and the had no rust.  They came out so nice, that I was wondering if I use them for summers and use the mags for winters.  But too late now.  I wonder how long before they become rusty.

Oh that’s niiiice! I’m repainting my rusty steelies shortly and would love white but I just don’t think it’ll work on a grey station wagon. Sort of like white new balance with a three piece suit...

I’d like metallic bronze but that doesn’t come in the big cheap cans of rust paint at canucky tire

I uses a wire wheel & angle grinder. Then cleaned with TSP. I put the paint on too heavy & too quick.

I did light coats with 10 min between coats. Ten min after las t coat started the same process with the clear. I used duplicolor wheel paint.

After your wire wheel and grinder did you sand it?

I did my final cleaning with brake cleaner before the paint
