But decided not to buy it
But decided not to buy it. These are TINY. The tiney didn’t turn me off, but the rust did, had a strap fabricated to keep the bottom of the front left fender from flopping around. It started up easy and sounded good. Too bad, would have been fun to scoot around in and I think I could have tucked it into a spare corner of the garage.

$2800, rattle can paint job, seats from a larger car, I didn't really fit in it, though I think I might have with stock seats.

My dad was looking for a really cheap commuter back in the late 70s and we went and looked at one of these. It was in pretty rough shape, but ran strong.
He passed - because even a strong 600 is a slow 600. He was shocked at how under-powered it was.
He eventually used
a few 70s Civics as beater commuters.

Z600s are neat cars . I know someone that has two of them, and have ridden in the related N600. They aren’t for me, but they are fun.

There was an N600 on local CL a couple years ago for $800 or something like that, less than a grand. I called the same day it was listed, but it was already gone.

There aren’t many around, and they go fast these days. Same with the Subaru 360 and early Sambars.

I’m 6’1” about 220 and I fight comfy one ours with stock seats. I was going to say maybe I should buy it for the running engine, because ours has a good chassis, but the engine is in op. Parts for these cars are CRAZY expensive because they were only sold in the US for two years and not in large numbers either. Plus those 2 years were nearly 40 years ago lol.

And that’s why the Civic replaces these. The 600 just wasn’t enough engine for US roads

Did the owner show you where the spare tire is?

Yes, the little door where the rear bumper goes. If any of you are in the Midwest have at it: https://lincoln.craigslist.org/cto/d/lincoln-1972-honda-z600/7007692345.html

I test drove a N600 once upon a time (pre-Oppo... I think? ) but despite its quirk, decided not to buy it. The guy was charging a premium price, but it was clear he’d cut A LOT of corners on the restoration. Overspray everywhere, painted headliner, and lots of basic maintenance stuff like plug wires hadn’t been done. Drove 4 hours to look at it, but glad I didn’t take the bait. It ended up on BaT a few years later (with a new owner) and didn’t meet the reserve. Last I heard that seller was still struggling to unload it, but that was a long time ago.
