Thinking about replacing the Solara with this. I priced out replacement parts from the absolute cheapest sources I could find on eBay and it amounts to well over $1000 just in parts (that’s not counting paint). That combined with the fact that the struts were getting to the point they needed swapped out and the car has 250,000 miles on it, maybe this is an opportunity to move on rather than keep repairing it. Here is a listing that caught my eye. Might see if I can look at it later today. What does Oppo hive mind think?

I had an '02, but the previous owner had proof the trans was taken care of by the recall. I still miss it.

I thought the TL-S was less susceptible to that. High school friend had a 2000 3.2 TL, good thing his parents were very well off. It ate thought at least three torque converters.

Transmission is made of glass but at that mileage it’s likely been replaced.

I saw that one. My dad has had two protege’s and currently drives one. Very, very reliable car but they rust out bad and VERY quickly. The rust would be bearable if it was just appearance but on those cars you can’t stop the rust and it end up rust in the car in half (literally).

Stay away from all ‘90s-early ‘00s V6/auto Hondas, the transmissions like to grenade themselves . Seemed to work better with the lower-o utput 4 cylinders.
