Agree, it sucks because I like mercs in general, definitely my favorite German, but most of the ones I could afford and would otherwise want have that  dong-nose styling. Would take a z8 though....

I prefer the GT (more S or C than R though to be honest) to the SLR, but I love the Z8.

I don't think you're crazy, though personally I think I like both Beamers better than the two mercs.  If you have to do one each, definitely the older pair..

SLR - coupe is awkward, but the convertible looks better, and sleeker.

Z8 - graceful classic roadster, wish Z4 had taken more lessons from it.

AMG GT - looks like melted plastic.

i8 Roadster - looks like a concept car, tech that I hope foretells the future. The only downside is the price... For that much money, it should be much faster like a supercar . For that sort of performance that would be very good for a mainstream sports car , it should be much more affordable for the mainstream.

If the i8 weren’t made of carbon fiber, and was around i3's pricetag… I would seriously consider buying into that sort of future car for today.
