“VFR”

Pretty sure someone was telling me this would make the perfect commuter bike. Probably one of my favorite non-naked bikes in the looks department. Reminds me of the 80's and 90's sport bikes with their crazy graphics packages.

Sorry for the awful picture!

An XSR900 finally showed up locally so I’ll go check it out on Saturday. I’m at the “fuck it, I want a bike” point, so if they’ll give me a decent deal.....

We'll see.

That was me :p

For real, a VFR is the perfect only bike.

It’s a V4, therefore it is superior to other plebeian-engine’d bikes.

The VFR is one of the best all-around street bikes.

I’m just here to tell you I’d buy a VFR just for the sound, and I’m not even a motorcycle guy.

Do they still make them? Or did this become the interceptor..?

It’s the interceptor now. I’m not even sure they are still making them. I forgot you were looking at just new stuff. The early 2000s VFRs are one of the best values in motorbikes right now, right up there with the SV650, but more capable.

The timing geared engines in certain MY’s are the most durable engines  Honda has ever built.

I’m not apposed to a used bike, but.... I keep seeing new XSR900's for like $7k. Or crazy deals on other new bikes like that Honda twin you linked me. Realistically most of the used bikes I’m interested in are in the $5-6k range, or around $3-4k and needing a fair bit of attention.

Maybe I'll look for an

A really good 6th gen can be had for 3500. Almost all were or are owned by responsible middle aged men that don’t fuck them up.

I paid 3200 for mine and it looked damn near new despite having almost 30,000 miles. Not a single leak or issue. Honda built the VFR like they wanted to prove something. My FZ07 felt like a cheap piece of crap by comparison and it was ten years newer.

I sold Hondas and Suzukis   in the late 90s. The VFR was by far my favorite. Looks great, handles great, comfortable enough to ride around the planet and dead reliable. I’d buy one in a second.

Currently browsing Craigslist. I’m really liking everything about these bikes...

Any idea if the one in the picture is a 6th Gen?

I wasn’t expecting to hear so much praise. This sounds even more beloved than an SV650

It's a 5th. 6th have dual pipes under the rear seat. Some say the 6th isn't as good because "muh gear driven cams" but it also has VTEC which is sort of an unreal experience.

I have always thought of the FJR as the VFR replacement after someone can't bend over and needs something stupid fast but isn't so high strung.

I’ve ridden both, they would be excellent companions in a dream garage. The SV is a hooligan, if you’ve been on it for more than a minute and haven’t had the front end in the air then you must not have started it, the VFR is the gorgeous lady who somehow said yes to my proposal and I want to spend the rest of my life with. Highly recommended.

Plus, single sided swing arm. Schwing!
