I am looking for a very casual mobile game for my iPhone that involves getting to tune or build things and then have them drive or battle in the background.

I have enjoyed the hell out of NFS Heat Studio. Getting to mod and paint cars is loads of fun. But games like FR Legends aren’t fun at all as I am hopeless at playing active games on my phone. I have an Xbox to get my driving fix.

The idea of something like Command and Conquer sounds appealing, but I also recall there being an important active participation side to that kind of game and I need something I can put down without notice and not lose progress or be penalized for leaving it on pause. I also cannot rely of audio for cues. So it will need to be played in silence almost entirely.

Joining a clan, guild, etc is also out as I don’t care to spend much, if any, money beyond the barest amount to play. This is just something to do while I wait for something to do at work.

I played this for a while, on A ndroid. It’s a card game and so car mechanics are very shallow, but it was interesting watching them race and swapping out my race fleet for a while. I had a neat little Honda Accord that would just rip.

On a scale of 0-3 McRibs, what would you rate this game at?

Not sure how to interpret this scale, is 0 good? Or is 3 good? Or is 2 good and 3 is “it could be good but is just to much”?

I’d give it about 2.2 McRibs. It was fun while it lasted but it’s pay to win so there’s a time period where you wind up slogging with cars in tracks designed to slow anything you have down as a poor.

However, watching the cars race around it took me back to my childhood slot car days. I think it might be up your alley, even if you don’t like McRibs.

CSR racing perhaps? Its drag racing with tuning and modding vehicles.

Even if I could play that on iOS, that is way too active to play at work. And I am almost certain requires a controller to play.

Is the racing automated? I mod and tune  my car and the game drives around for me? Can I pause during a race without penalty?

The racing is automated. Modding is done by merging cards together so it’s not really car mechanic like in any way, not like CSR. Super super shallow. IIRC you can pause the race but not control the race. I’m not playing it right now, so I am not sure how many tweaks they made to the formula, here’s a gameplay video. Looks like they have a YT channel.

edit: 7:13 is the upgrade screen.

I’ve been playing World of Warships Blitz for about a year and a half. You can be a serious or unserious as you want. I’m pretty serious, there’s a ton of stuff to un lock with a lot of play, but I loved it even when I was just messing around. It’s the only mobile game I’ve ever played for more than a coup le of weeks... I’d give it a solid 8/10...

Adventure Comm unist. - not a car game, it plays itself while you are away, you can put it down at a moments notice, easily played in silence and it’s so stupid it’s addictive.

I downloaded it and gave it a shot. It’s okay. I can’t figure out how to stop the Arabic ad that blocks my screen when I tap on my garage though. The managerial aspects of the game are fun though. And I do like the automatic racing once you have your ‘deck’ filled out.

Yeah. It was ad in Arabic. I tapped around a bunch and got a number pad, so I entered a bunch of zeros and it let me back to the main screen, so...???

I get the whole free-to-play* business model of not really being free. But, no, I won’t let you track me for more ‘relevant’ ads. How zero ads is more relevant to me, assholes. In fact, fuck the ads and I might be inclined to give you money directly through a purchase or two later.

We will see how long play. It’s alright for now.

Yeah, when I like a game, if the option is there, I pay the $4 or w/e to get rid of ads. Ads will pretty much ensure I don’t play for longer than a week.

I just stopped playing that once I started with F1 Manager. I can only do one game at a time where I need to keep up with the ‘ads for free loot boxes. ’

Adventure Communist is about as good as it gets, as far as addictive idler games go.
