Lovely sunset yesterday on the way home from work and I don’t post nearly enough of my subaru on here. So here you go with some #content.

Looks like an aftermarket trunk lid spoiler? I had read a while ago that the trunk itself doesn’t weigh much without the big wing in place.

Yes indeed! Would have died this summer without it haha. Generally the primary reason I take the subaru is if it's too hot to suffer with no roof in the miata.

subaru provided a number of different spring rates for the linear spring that helps open the trunk. not swapping those when you put on a big wing means it might not stay up, or if you swap out a big STI wing for the petite lip spoiler it might fly open when you pull the release.

Yup, similar to the 2007 limited spoiler (I am unsure if it actually is that or one of the aftermarket ones attached to a bare impreza lid). I wouldn't have done it myself but I'm glad the previous owner did. Cops don't ever bother me.

Is that PCH? You have a lovely commute.

My trunk lid has trouble opening with the trunk as is so the springs must have been swapped as well. If I pop it with the release or with the key, it stays basically shut and requires lifting. Will easily shut with a slight breeze or parked on a hill too.

Yes indeed is the PCH. Long commute though (~40 minutes if there were NO traffic and I took the freeway, about ~45 min realistic light morning traffic on freeway, ~1hr normal evening traffic on freeway, ~1hr20min heavy traffic on freeway, or ~1hr taking PCH and canyons). Its certainly more fun and scenic to take the PCH but that length of time gets to me. And making it in an hour requires breaking every speed limit lol. Google maps estimate is ~1hr10min and there are a few lights and some traffic at the end always.

Come hell or high water, outside of a massive forest fire or landslide I am taking the PCH all the way up from Cali next year. I’m doing it. I can’t not do it.

I still have a dream trip of driving the entire coast via PCH/101 from Mexico to Canada and back. Almost did it this past winter but it just didnt fit my schedule and would have required too many driving hours per day to work. Ive still never seen any of the coast between SF and Seattle so its so much unexplored terrain for me.
