I’m surprised bike power isn’t more regulated than it is.

Like, owners of these monster machines should pay double taxes to help fund the cleanup crews that  will inevitably scrape them off of the pavement.

Except bikes like this are rarely in serious accidents. Your average dumb youngster can’t afford a 30K bike, they just buy the average Japanese 600 or 1K.

Also most people keep the electronics on these bikes as they realize what will happen without it.

Around here the same license that gets you a Vespa gets you this or a 900 lb Cruiser or a turbo Busa, just as the same license that gets you a Mirage gets you a Veyron or a 42' motorhome.

But where do they stack up on the crazy scale compared to the 212hp Brutale 1000..?

The Z H2 is a lot cheaper than I would have expected.

Ive been considering picking up a Rocket3 to tickle my street itch but hot damn the Streetfighter V4 makes me want to do hoodrat shit.

If i didnt have a race bike problem id be riding that SF V4 around with the front wheel in the air more than on the ground.

I think I said those words around 1999 when all the 600cc bikes approached 100hp, and a nyone could walk into a dealer and walk out with a CBR600.

All you needed was a learners permit (written test ) and $199 a month.

Still true I assume.

The cost goes into insurance. I just bought a new ZX6 over the summer. Total bike cost OTD was < $10k after taxes and everything. Quote for full coverage insurance was $4k / yr.

Meanwhile in Europe, they have graduated licensing:

AM: 45 km/h max, 50 cc max, in practice 4 kW net (gasoline) or “ continuous” (30 minutes sustained for electrics)

A1: 125 cc max, 11 kW net (gasoline)/continuous (electric) for two wheels, 15 kW for three wheels

A2: 35 kW net/continous max, no more than 0.2 kW per kg, if a bike is detuned to meet 35 kW limit, the original bike must not be over 2x the power of the detuned bike

A: Now you can wrap yourself around trees with 200 hp

bike POWER isnt.

but in euro, they do actually limit what you can buy according to the level of permit you have.
