The Crosstrek was delivered with the port installed LED interior light upgrade. Annoyingly, this $99 option only included the map lights and dome light. The cargo light was still left with a sad looking incandescent bulb. Anyone with an SJ Forester, GP Crosstrek/Impreza
, or GT Crosstrek/Impreza
will know that the cargo light leaves
a lot to be desired.
One $10 Sylvan ia Zevo 194 bulb later:

There were reports of some LED bulbs causing issues with blowing fuses and/or interrupting remote locking functions while the light was illuminated. I can report that I have no such issues with this Zevo bulb so far . Interestingly, it is rumored that the port installed upgrade kit uses Sylvania bulbs, possibly Zevos.
While the new LED bulb is great, there’s always room for improvement. I have my eye on something that should make the cargo area even brighter. Something that I wanted to do with the SH Forester, but never did. Something that

From the few kits we got in store I do believe the ones you buy at the dealer are Sylvania, but that being said manufactures change suppliers all the time. So who know? They all come branded in a Subaru box.

The trunk of the impreza looks to have gotten much small over the years. My 2002 could swallow a full size cooler the long way and still take a food bag or two.

The GF ( 1st gen ) and GG ( 2nd gen ) were true wagons, which helped quite a bit. The GH ( 3rd gen ) was the start of the more hatchback body style, which the GP ( 4th gen ) and GT ( 5th gen ) continued.
The GT is definitely an improvement over the GH, though still not as good as the GG.
The Foresters are still better in this regard though.
