The lack of scoop says no but the body kit and color and badge acream yes. I know very little of these cars.

Every part of me wants to say no due to the lack of the good scoop and that the grille looks just not quite right, but they’re so rare and everything else is correct. Maybe it was in a front end crash with an aptly named Reindeer?

These were available in H6 as well as turbo H4 (twin turbo in the case of the third gen Legacy/Liberty) . Both the third gen and fourth gen could be had in H6 some years and the H6 models didn’t have the hood scoop.

Im guessing this is an H6, which was offered as a BLITZEN, and did not have the hood scoop.

God, I’d take that wing.
Except I’d have a wagon if I owned one of these.

Oh excellent! So it likely is a Blitzen and the signs don’t lie. It’s just the model that came sans scoopy.
It seems these were actually sold in Aus for a time. Must’ve been rare though, I wonder how one even stumbles upon one. God it’s cool

Not sure if they were simultaneous, or some years vs. other years, but some Blitzens were 2.0T like JDM WRX and STI, others were 3.0R like the Spec.B.
Either way, cooler than most of what the USDM got.
Still not happy about the lack of 3.0R Spec.B 6-speed in the US. Let alone the Legacy S402.
or the Forester Type S. (WRX/OBXT -spec SH Forester with Legacy/Outback ’s 5-speed automatic VTD AWD, and World Rally Blue paint)
Subaru is carmaker-non-grata to me because of things like that, and the continued lack of anythi ng interesting in the US market.

After doing some more digging, it seems as though this is a particularly rare Liberty. As you said, they did sell these in Australia, it turns out in 2006. I believe it was the only Blitzen model sold in Australia, and possibly the only Blitzen model sold out side of Japan. The models officially sold in Australia were based on 3.0R s pec.B models.
It also appears that the H6 was limited to Australia for this generation of Legacy/Liberty Blitzen. I mistakenly thought that it was also available in Japan - I can find no record of it existing there in this generation . I believe t he only H6 Blitzen sold in Japan was the third generation model Blitzen 6.
I found an Australian news article from June 2006 which claims that 200 examples total would be built and sold . They were available in Premium Red and Obsidian Black, Sedan and Wagon, and 6 MT and 5EAT. Considering the breakdown and an even distribution of variants, that means the wagon you saw could possibly be 1 of 25. That’s if the distribution of the options was even, which it might not have been.
Very cool!!

I loved the Blitzen since I first saw it in Gran Turismo 3.
I don’t think I could bring myself to own a Blitzen wagon , specifically because of the wing found on the sedan. I’d love to own a 2000 or 2001 model sedan at some point.

Pfft, every car is rare if you split hairs enough times. 1/200 is still incredible. I feel blessed. It was parked at my work haha.

Very true! Still, I find myself getting into details like that; at least for major factors such as body style or powertrain choices .
Very cool that you got to see one in person!

You gave me an excuse to fire up the ol’ PS2 :)
I may have also built one of these, exactly as pictured:
I just added a chip-tune and tires performance wise-though.
