He’s looking for something low mileage, 10k or less, and good Mpg. 2 outta 3 ain’t bad.
He was considering a 60k mile 2012 Civic that has had a few accidents, you can see the mismatched door, it’s also been rear ended, and needs tires for 10k . I think that’s a terrible deal. It’s also soooooo boring.
On a serious note I found this 2016 iM faith 16k for 12,500. I Think its a much better deal

iM is a fantastic deal that takes advantage of that Toyota reliability with dead brand price discount. That Civic is a terrible deal.

Of those 3 options, I would almost undoubtedly end up in the Genesis. Probably for around 2 grand under asking.
The only thing worse than paying for gas is paying for gas that’s going into a car that you dislike. Then again fuel prices are nuts and living indoors is nice,so ya know, like, whatever.

I almost test drove a 2016 Scion iM 6-speed manual much like this one. I picked the faster Veloster instead, but I still think the iM is a good buy.

Why do they all have to be silver ughhhhh. I know I own a silver car but I had to settle on that because so many damn people buy silver cars.

I’d probably choose the Genesis out of this lot based on comfort. (Hyundai is coming on in reliability and I’m not sure how well I’d fit in an iM)
I’d definitely pass on something that’s been crashed a few times. My wife and I had a ‘04 civic that she crashed in 2008. I drove the car for 5 of the 6 years after that and I was ok with it but she told me the alignment was never right after that and that was one we had repaired by dealerships and reputable body
shops..

I know right. I also sent him a dark red E90. But yeah...

1 or 3 would both be good options. I think they’re both good deals. Personally I’d probably end out in the Genesis for a comfortable cruiser. The miles are crazy low too.
That Civic is absolutely terrible and definitely overpriced for having been in multiple accidents and repaired poorly.

I did recommend an E90 and a GTI. So I’m guilty of this

It might get better MPGs than he current 06 Explorer! So it’s not all bad.
I wouldn’t go for any of them. I’d buy the 7,000 dollar 2014 Jetta 2.5 that I found. Because it was blue and manual.

Yeah, that iM is cool, and Toyota does make the best cars :o)
He might be able to get a brand-new Mirage or Spark for 10k.
orange Mirage for 10k and someone on here has an orange Mirage just like it too :o)
a brand new car with a warranty
and lower interest rates for financing is cool, but Toyota is so awesome.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, this x1000
Luckily, he can get a brand new Mirage in a cool color like orange or bluer. The Spark is available in cool colors too, blue, orange, and even pink!

Perfect compromise, and it definitely satisfies the fuel requirement. Even Better: it’s kind of close. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/780703761/overview?aff=share_other

that was one we had repaired by dealerships and reputable body shops..
You say that like being a dealer or a reputable shop means they do better work....

The Hyundai is WAYYYYYYY more car for the money, the other 2 are cheap shitcans by comparison, and realistically, the Hyundai doesn’t get terrible economy either.

Too much money for a Corolla hatch IMO. It may be reliable, but that won’t keep it from being a rolling penalty box to drive.
The Hyundai is 100X the car, for less money, and will probably be just as reliable honestly.

EPA rating is 18/27 that’s pretty horrible in comparison. Especially because it would see a lot of city driving.

Looking at fuelly they average around 24 in mixed driving, low 20s city. Probably over 10 mpg better than what he’s used to.

At this point in the game I trust small ma/pop shops to do the job right more than dealers or reputable shops.
