My car is not totaled, thankfully. Payout is a little lower than preferred, but such is life. Still going ahead on mods, so here’s the plan:

4 Avid1 AV-06 18x9.5 +38 wheels in Hyper

Kinja'd!!!

4 245/40R18 tires, either Achilles ATR Sport 2 or Vercelli Strada 2 (both got excellent reviews online and are around $68/tire)

Set of Megan Racing MR-LSOG374D Lowering Springs

With that, I’ll be right on the money for what I’ll be able to keep. Obviously, I won’t be purchasing anything until the car is repaired with the S trim bumper, but that’s the plan so far.

Do you get winters? If so, might be a good idea to keep the 3 undamaged wheels, get an extra on ebay/craigslist, then throw winters on the extra set of wheels. I’m sure that car is a blast in the winters on proper snow tires.

I don’t have any experience with Achilles or Vercelli (never heard of either, actually). I’m sure the megan racing springs are fine, though you will probably sacrifice some ride quality. Just remember that you’re removing a significant amount of spring with these mods since tires act as a spring in the suspension. By upsizing and removing sidewall PLUS lowering the amount of spring and decreasing travel on the damper , you’re increasing the damage potential to the wheels if you hit a pothole and bottom out the damper onto the bump stop. Ask me how I know... or maybe don’t. No one likes heart-shaped wheels.

They’re a nice concave TE37 replica and are super affordable? Yes please!

Nope, most I’d do is vinyl wrap the chrome trim gloss black, then tint the windows, yet unknown exhaust mods that would make it louder/deeper  under acceleration but don’t add drone or rasp, and an actual cold air intake. Between a more open exhaust and a true CAI, I’d be looking at about 350 HP is a nice bump but not gonna get in me in too much trouble. Eventually I’ll do more, longer term goal is around 400 HP

All 4 wheels are fine, the one they want to replace has a couple deep scratches and mild scuffing, but it’s not bad at all. We do get some snow, but not much at all and in southern Missouri everything gets canceled for snow and ice anyways. I’ve actually seen several sets of G37 wheels with snows mounted, I’d probably get that since they’re around the price of just the tires and have only been used for 1 season. I’ll be looking to sell my current tires for sure, if not both wheels and tires. The tires are Goodyears, with 61k miles of tread wear warranty left so they’ve got plenty of life left.

I haven’t heard of either tire brand before, but they seem to be decent, as I was leery of them at first. I know for sure my ride with be compromised, but I feel that it’s too soft right now and want to firm things up. I may still got for a 45 tire instead of a 40, but we’ll see. OEM coupes run 40 tires and my TSX had 45, so I’m pretty used to that. And if I end up hating it, I’m gonna keep the stock springs and just go back to that until I can afford adjustable coilovers.
