How many will get impatient and just move on to something else?
How long would you wait?
I know a Model 3 owner who waited like 2
YEARS
after he drove 4 hours and waited in line to put down his deposit on the first day.
As much fun as it might be to have the first one on your block, I can’t imagine that there’s any way that I’d ever be willing to wait months or a year to buy a car that I won’t even get to test drive before signing the papers. Same with ever paying over MSRP for a car. Nope, I’ll just wait - thanks.
The only exception would be if I had the means and connections
to buy a limited production car that was all but
guaranteed to increase in value (see: Ford GT, etc.). Don’t think I ever have to worry about finding myself in that situation - ha!

Well, way back when the Kurds were helping us win WWII, people waited 3-4 years for a new car.
I think the C8 will be more common than the C5-7 (combined)
within the span of a year, at least in terms of how many are on the road at once. That’s good for GM, but bad for trying to be an early adopter and trying to stand out. Not worth the effort.

Plenty will still try.
Can’t sell ‘em if they don’t make ‘em!

If anything, there will probably be one on Turo soon enough. General Motors can’t gate-keep all of them.
Keep an eye on this space. We’ll have C8 Corvette driving impressions soon.
“Soon” is likely months away, and getting pushed back every day
. March? April? Who knows at this point...?

Here’s a winning solution. Turn the Corvette program where you can go to Bowling Green and pick up your car to a deluxe program where you can go to the factory and literally help build it. Charge extra and put your name on the gold plaque. Turn hardship into opportunity.

Where else are they going to find a mid-engine V8 for $70,000?

Nowhere, but it’s not like buyers aren’t cross-shopping these with other cars.
How many will just end up buying a Raptor instead?

They did that with the C7. You even got a matching hat & shirt!

No sales will be lost by a few month delay. The old farts that buy Corvettes don’t have anything better to do, so they can wait.

You might be right, but some people with money to burn and the itch for a new car just can’t wait very long.

Yes, but this would be the full immersion experience where you particip[ate in assembly too . And instead of a supervising tech, you get a computer generated assistant in the shape of Mary Barra wearing a bikini and coaching you through each step.

There still doing road tests so there’s that. I’ve lost count on how many I’ve seen 10 12? Saw a baby blue one just this morning.

That’s Long Beach Red? Almost looks purple.
Smart to get as many miles in as possible to catch any problems before it goes into full production.

I called it burgundy. Not a fan. It looks better in light colors even white.
