I helped my parents swap campers at their hunting property. The old camper had water intrusion issues for a while, it’s got bad mold on the inside. New camper is almost same layout.

$20,000 later....

my mom really likes hunting and my dad is indifferent now after a few back surgeries. I’m also indifferent any more. My wife shot a good sized Buck 2 years ago. I go to help out as my dad can’t do much lifting after his surgeries and bad knees. He also refused to move the old camper with his pictured F-150, it would have been fine for the 200’ it got moved.

It was a bit chaotic with them bickering at each other. So I spent last night at my uncle’s place with just my family. Nice and quiet.

That ‘old camper’ doesn’t look all THAT old and it’s already leaking?

My first thought was “which  one is the old camper?”

RV s are built like shit and WILL leak even if given constant attention. The more they're moved the more likely the leaks will occur and it's easy to have wall leaks go unnoticed.

That seems like a bad idea for a thing to spend many tens of thousands of dollars on...

Hilarously bad ... And yet I just bought my third old camper in 5 years ... Because I'm SMRT.

Ah well, if you can afford it and get enjoyment out of it, we all only live once. :)

Can confirm. I have a thirty year old camper. It's a really nice one and I've still performed major surgery.

10 years maybe. The new one is 2.

They were kind of in a rush to buy the first one. So they didn’t shop around much. You know they say happy wife happy life.

My mom deserves this. Even though she will be putting retirement off for another year.

I replaced a window in that camper once and it’s only 2” thick back wall. 1.5” styrofoam and 1/4” Masonite/ fiberboard on either side, so they aren’t made to last, and service calls start at around $300.

The work I did this weekend likely would have cost an additional moneys. And wouldn’t charge my dad, or ask for money. But he pays me and I always tell him he doesn’t have too.

The old One reeks   of mold.

Status is it’s at my dads place, so this week or weekend I need to get a bunch of photos of it and drop it on CL for $2,000 or look up tiny house forums and part it out there.

It was cheap. They depreciate like crazy, for good reason :)
