A week ago I threw my groceries on the backseat, started the car and listened to the radio DJ announce the next song. It sounded like he said the artist was John Fogerty. The song started and I immediately recognized it from my childhood. Back in the day it would play on the station my mother listened to in the car. I don’t think I’ve heard it in 30 years. I was covered in a wave of nostalgia by the end of song. And when the DJ again said it was John Fogerty I thought to myself, “That was definitely not John Fogerty”. By the time I got home I’d forgotten the song title and was left with trying to use Google autocomplete to find the artist with a name that sounded like John Fogerty. No Luck.

Last night I watched El Camino and on a radio played a song, that song. I waited for the credits and sure enough...

My kismit is now your listening pleasure. Enjoy, I’d Really Love to See You Tonight by John Ford Coley.

It’s a great song.  DEFINITELY not John Fogerty though.

The movie was too long...

And I still don’t know what to think about Todd’s weight difference

Todd’s weight wasn’t the only weight...I was able to look past it though.

Marla Gibbs’ cameo has to be one of the best placements ever.

That cameo was amazing...

I’m not conflicted about the weight itself... I’m just bothered by the amount of things it could mean.

It could be a plot device, to show how Jesse’s mental health was damaged to the point that he doesn’t recall Todd as he was initially. I think this was supported by the way Todd is portrayed; he’s portrayed as someone who doesn’t seem aggressive, even if Jesse was literally kept in a cage with Todd’s help.

It could be just a social statement, about how we think weight in actors matters when it doesn’t have to

Or it could just be that the actor behind Todd had to gain weight for another project, and they didn’t have a good reason to make him lose it.
