We were in La Conner today with PNW Oppo and had just finished lunch and were heading back to the parking lot when my Dad, who attended the Oppo drive today in his Corvette and had beaten me to the lot told me someone had hit my Fiesta.
Naturally, I feared the worst. Then, as I approached the parking lot, I could see the vehicle in question was a gold Toyota sienna with handicapped plates, which in terms of bad drivers is like a hat trick.
Naturally, given the other vehicle involved, I assumed my car was a total write off.
In reality, they had hit my lights. So far, I can’t see any damage. Baja Designs really builds these to take a beating.
Idiots.

Oh my God. So much worse. Not to mention the complication of being in a different country

Oof, well, that's not so bad. Worse than it not happening, but still.

“park by braille”
I completely amazes me they actually just left their car smushed into yours - didn’t even bother to run and park elsewhere.

I was there and this was not the only indication that the van driver was not at their most attentive today.

He/she parked nose to nose against your lights and just left it there?!? Did the other driver contact you or did you take pictures for posterity and just leave? Where’s the rest of the story?

They appear to have just p arked and split. Literally just left it like that.
I took photos, left a note (RPM offered to leave a card as well) and left back to Canada.

Send a post to BD, they might stick it in your file if anything comes up with them in the future.
Lights still work? Lenses clear? You can swap out the glass if not..

I’m guessing they didn't. I have had my truck hit twice in parking lots, while I was sitting in it. Both times the driver's didn't realize they had done it.

The strangest parking lot encounter I’ve had was while I was waiting for a mid-day conference to start. A fellow parked next to me and used my truck as a place to put his stuff as he unloaded it from his car. The look on his face was priceless when he realized I was sitting in the truck.
It was even better when he stepped up to the podium and realized I was staring at him from the third row....

Worst case they would have you send them in to take a look at. Best case you have an email record of asking them.. they do lifetime warranty so it wouldn’t hurt to give them a heads up and see what they think.

Swimmingly. This was after Hurricane Katrina and he was a Dutch fellow who was brought in to tell the State of Louisiana how to do levees the “right” way. Ten minutes in and I knew that the Dutch levee system was very different from Louisiana’s and their approach wouldn’t work here. The biggest differences are population and density . They have hundreds of miles of levees, but their population is so concentrated that they have plenty people to watch over every inch. They also have a very strong tax base, so there’s no shortage of funding . In contrast, o ne of the levee districts here has 128 miles of mostly rural levee with an annual budget of less than $30,000. That’s barely enough to keep the levees mowed - the minimum level of maintenance required by federal regulation.

This may be a unpopular oppinion, I don’t want to deny the pleasure of driving, but being handicapped is NOT an excuse for shitty driving. If it is the excuse, then in no way shape or form should said person have a driver lic. A number of occasions I have witnessed folks with a handicap placard get away with damaging property Scott free because the victim, property owner and police all think “it’s ok, their handicapped “. It’s not ok. The same consequence given to a ‘normal’ driver should be the status quo for all.
