You confidently wash your car, because at 7PM you’re meeting some friends, and you don’t check the forecast because you just spent the entire morning out and there wasn’t a fucking cloud there
But then you go home and check?

Nope. If it’s going to rain here, we prepare for days in advance, in excited anticipation.

Hell our forecast can be clear for a week, but the second I get a vehicle all clean and spotless the single cloud in the sky dumps rain on it just to ruin my day.

Well, it is good to do a dirt change once in a while anyways.
Sincerely,
someone who lives in northern Germany where it rains all the time

Yeah, I’ve done that. But when I wash my car by hand, it’s so I can follow it up with a hand waxing. That applies protection that will last, so I don’t feel my time is wasted. I last washed and waxed my car just before a road trip that I knew would get it filthy. I did it because I wanted the protection for the finish.
But even if you don’t wax, it’s still good to get some of that old crusty dirt off your paint.

Yep. It’s a risk any time you wash a car in moonsoon season from late June-September in New Mexico.

We get Sahara Dust in the U.K. in fact Sahara Dust can even be found in Trinidad and To bago.
It’s awful stuff and very sharp, can cause a lot of paint damage if not removed properly but more serious is can cause quite sever respiratory distress.
https://today.caricom.org/2019/03/18/sahara-dust-and-smoke-trigger-health-warnings/
Dust in your face! Also your nose, mouth and lungs. But that’s the period which T&T is in, under siege from Sahara dust plus smoke from bush fires caused by the long dry season.
“The Sahara dust will be with us until about Wednesday, but it’s normal for this time of year,” meteorological officer Bagwandeen Ramdatt said yesterday.
The Met office yesterday charted a dust haze index of 32 degrees C for Trinidad and 31 degrees C for Tobago.
Ramdatt explained that the dust from the Sahara desert “ travels on low-level trade winds across the ocean reaching the Caribbean and sometimes even Central America. The dust wall can be thicker or thinner depending on wind speed. If the speed is strong, the haze will be thinner.
