He wanted a Lexus, so I took him to the Alfa dealer for a test drive... I am floored how well it drives for an SUV. The Guilia was fun too, but pretty darn tiny in comparison

The brakes on the Guilia felt a little weird to me, but the rest of the car felt fantastic. I think if they offered it with a manual, I’d be trying to lease one.

The fact that a picture taken at an Alfa Romeo lot is a sea of white, silver and gray is kind of depressing but it’s still a cool car.

This annoying old dude at my gym drives a Stelvio. He’s the kind of guy who turns on every fan in the place even in the middle of winter. E verybody hates him, and he loves parking in the 30-minute spaces right out front of the door even though he stays for well past 30 minutes.

Every once in a while I see that Stelvio and in the 30-minute spaces and get tempted to call the towing company listed on the 30 minute parking signs, but I’ve yet to stoop to that level. It might get to that point though if he gets all fan-happy again this winter.

Seriously, though, I hope Alfa hangs around in the market long enough this time to sell enough Giulia Q4's into the world for all of us to pick up one, used, cheap in 10 years.  It is a helluva car.

They did have a better selection of blues, reds and browns on the other side of the isle, but still lots of blacks, grey and white. I like the white on this one, works nicely with the blackout package, black roof, red calipers and brown interior

I suppose I should mention that last winter I *did* f lip the fuck out on him one time when he turned on a wall-mounted oscillating fan that started blowing all sorts of cold air in my sweaty direction . But that was only after a million other episodes of him turning on fans that weren’t blowing directly on me.

Its quality. The leather is nice, and in this one, brown. Some cheap plastic here and there, but nothing worse than anything else I've seen

As someone who does not go to gyms, what is the problem with the fans? I’d think people would want a cool breeze while working out.

The Stelvio and Giulia look absolutely fantastic. I’ve heard nothing but horror stories about reliability though, let us know how it holds up to having miles put on it!

Some folks do want a breeze. But myself, and I’d wager a majority gym-goers, don’t. Because we’re talking indoor temperature sweating here. Sure, if I’m outside and sweaty and it’s 80+ degrees, yeah a breeze is nice. But being all sweaty indoors, especially in moisture-wicking gym clothes, a breeze is not only unnecessary, it’s freezing .

It’s worse in the winter since most gyms, being large open spaces, try to manage their utility bills by not running the heat all that high. The highest I’ve ever seen a gym thermostat set in the winter is maybe 68.

Proper gym fan etiquette is to take a quick look around at who else might be in the breeze zone of a fan you want to mess with and check with them before doing anything. That includes turning off fans, which I often do.

I’m one of those dudes who wears tights under shorts to the gym, year round, and I 100% do it to stay warm.
