I have other rants coming about a world of negativity, but I lost my wallet the other day.
I even have a Tile in it, to make sure I don’t lose it. There isn’t anything in there I can’t cancel properly, except for that I’ve had my Driver’s License number stolen before and there is almost no recompense.
Using the Tile I managed to track it back to the last place it received a signal, which was a grocery store my wife and I go to all the time.
In the lost and found was my wallet. I had dropped it in the parking lot (I’ve NEVER done this before) and a kind stranger had picked it up and turned it into the store
(
impressed and surprised.)
The part that was amazing was
that
my cash was still in it. Albeit, not much, but I definitely expected that to be gone.
Someone was nice to me that day and I felt gratitude and shame at my own incompetence.
Since I own a Corvette, is it time to get a wallet on a chain, Oppo? I bought New Balances with my rescued cash.

Only if you’re also wearing jean shorts and/or tucking in your shirt with no belt.

Your good fortune is better than mine. I keep checking the “Find my Phone” app in hopes that someone will receive and turn on my stolen iPad and that will lead me to my stolen laptop, hard drives, backpack, ring, etc.

I really hate jean shorts... but I tuck my shirt in all the time without a belt. Because I’m getting fat.

Thanks. It’s a common problem in some areas of Houston. I had to learn that the hard way.

There are still a lot of good people in the world.
They shitty ones are just a lot louder.

I lost my wallet at the Met in NYC one time . I had tried getting in contact with them several times but got no response when I called. However, five days later they got in touch with me and told me they had it, so I went over, and was surprised to find that it had more money in it than I thought. So I guess the art crowd is nice (or at least one member of it). Unfortunately enough time had passed that I had ordered new credit cards and a new driver’s license already, but that’s not a huge inconvenience. I did actually have to buy groceries with cash, which is probably the only time I’ve ever done that.

Not too shabs all things considered. Like you, I would have done the same.

Nice! One thing I like about having a top job is that “faith in humanity restored” feeling
Sure there’s cheap skates that don’t tip at all, but the poeple that tip 5-10 dollars more than make up for them. I even have a few daily customers that always tip well and are beyond nice.

I always tip well. Occasionally I get remarkably bad service which I don’t reward. But I always tip well first so that if I come back, I’ll be remembered. And having participated in tip wages, I know how little they make. Bad tip days were the worst.
I'd only wish that on people I truly hate.

Bad days do happen, Altho the restaurant I work at now is much more regular than the Dominos I delivered at before. The worst I’ve ever done was like $4/ hr in tips, but we make minimum do that’s still 11/ hr.
I do appreciate how people who have or still do work tip jobs usually tip well themselves. Altho I do know of one bartender who stuffs me every damn time.

One thing I was always curious about is how much servers in really fancy restaurants make in tips. I bet it’s a lot, although I probably wouldn’t cut the mustard in terms of service.
Also, pizza delivery is one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet. For $15 a customer can make you go nearly anywhere in 30 minutes and it’s kind of ridiculous. I’m glad you don’t do that anymore.

No I do still deliver lol. It is definitely a more dangerous job than people think. I’m glad that I don’t live in a city tho. My town of 8500 people has enough idiots and dangerous intersections, I can’t imagine delivering food in a congested urban area.

All good so far 7 months at this job, and unlike my co workers I haven’t even put a dent in the delivery cars. It is impressive how often the cars get dented, dinged, and scratched.
Altho I did scratch the passenger side mirror on a hanging mailbox.
