They get dirty, sure, but they have fun in the process .

Also, I have high and low beams on the 944 again, and I’m jus t a handbrake cable (fitting en route) and horn (doin’ it tomorrow) away from having an inspection-worthy race car.

Awesome! But wait, this sanctioning body allows handbrakes? Being an SCCA club racer, I guess I’m used to handbrakes being removed by default. I threw the hardware away for my integra’s handbrake.

It’s just to get plates on the car. Texas wants a safety inspection before I can put normal non-antique plates on it (and also get my title, but I reaaaaally want the PCA plates on this) , so I’m jumping through those hoops to register the thing. The plan is to do the Lemons race (track event) before the Lemons Rally (on-road event), so since the handbrake won’t even be accessible with the wider seat-for-sharesies installed, and I don’t want anyone accidentally yanking it. W e’ll likely disconnect it for the race.

I don’t think Lemons cares about it, so I keep thinking of installing the hydraulic wheestick for the rally. I got one that will lock in place if we park the car, and it’s also very in-theme for us being big dumb hoons.

Ah, this makes more sense. I’ve never tried to keep a racecar registered for street use, but it certainly is an inspection item for Texas. Not living in El Paso anymore, I don’t miss inspections, emissions testing or front plates :)

Upon moving back to NM, I really enjoyed pulling the front plates holder of my F-150. It blocked intercooler airflow.

I hate front plates so much, except the parsh’s German plate really fits in well with the bumper. That car was not made for big floppy American plates.

Pictures were taken, I may have cursed the Coke Porsches by trying to kiss the bumper of one during the grid walk, and I bought a silly resin model of the Coke Porsche because, holy cow, merchandise went FAST!
