Drove from Navarre Beach to Pensacola Beach for dinner tonight. A 20-ish mile drive along the beach through the marine reserve, with a speed limit of 35. It’s rather strictly enforced when a lot of vacationers are around, so I set the cruise at like 38-39.
Hit 44k miles and 44 miles per gallon (well, almost). A far cry from the measly 25.9 I average at home. Damn stop-and-go traffic commute . And Kentucky heatwave making me blast the A/C all the time.
My 6 has its shortcomings, but overall, I still really like it. I’m going to give it a good cleaning when I’m home and off work on Monday.
My favorite thing about it? The fact that it’s paid off.

It’s a handsome car and
it always feels good to be driving without a car payment..

26 mpg is about what I get in the 3, cruising on the highway.

Not that many modern cars I think are good looking, but Mazda got it right with the 6. If I ever decide to replace my IS300 it will be on the shortlist, regular gas (right?) and better mpgs would definitely be welcome, but then I would have car payment again.

They’re really good cars. My parents are now enjoying their second 6, after trading in their 2016 t ouring for a 2019 grand touring reserve with the turbo. They end up being two very different takes on the same car, but both are very good.

Beautiful ride and impressive fuel economy! I somehow managed to capture this image when I struck 111,111 miles on my 2007 GTI. It’s of course the insta-mpg, and I’d reset the trip odometer for the occasion...but I think Domo the GTI was showing off for me.
My actual, hand calculated mpg over the 121k
I’ve tracked is 26.7 btw, not super impressive, but not too bad either.

A far cry from the measly 25.9 I average at home.
That’s only slightly better than the new van averages in mixed driving.......
Great looking car man!

I love my 6, my favorite is the interior there was nothing on the market in my price range that came close to it.

Yep. Regular gas on the N/A ones like mine. The new-for-2018 turbo ones can run on 87 or 93.

Which is why my commute sucks. It’s hard to get good gas mileage when you’re sitting idle with the A/C on.

Ya that’s never very good for mileage.
