Those wheels are great. I wonder if Mr. Voyager got to buy his old Acclaim back, I saw it’s been listed as SOLD on FB

I find it very interesting how the junkyard is putting the cars on rims in a manner where it is possible for them to roll (unless they’re welded together somewhere). Seems like a liability lawsuit waiting to happen - moron comes with his friend to help grab a part; moron leans on car to see if it can be pushed, and crushes his friend under the car.

They are welded, those are standard up pull it junkyard jackstands, every self- service yard does it the same way.

The yard I frequent (LKQ) does it the same way, but not welded. You sign a liability release when you pay to go on the lot. You’d have to be an idiot to climb under a junkyard car...

You should go back and snag those GTC wheels. In good shape, they can go for a decent price since they look damn cool.

Well, if it’s a u-pull-it yard there are lots of parts which require someone to crawl under a car.

They weren’t standard where/when I grew up, but then again those yards weren’t strick ly u-pull-it. More of a, “well, I can’t pull it off of there today, so if you need it today... I guess since your dad is a friend of mine, go ahead and grab it, and I’ll knock 20% since you did it yourself.”

All the corporate self service yards  do it like that. I’ve been gone n some sketchy yards in my younger days currently most do it that way.

Eh, like what? Most of what can be pulled off the bottom of a car is rusted out on cars in my area. I’ve never had to crawl under and I’ve been to junkyards way more than I’m comfortable admitting.

I believe you. It’s just that on the surface it looks like a horrible idea - unless things are welded in place, then it’s sort of genius (in a redneck sort of way).

So, since most of the parts on the underside of a car are rusted out in your area that extends to everywhere else in the world ?

Rather than me answering you, why don’t you just take a minute and think about all the parts that might need accessed from underneath a car, then use your imagination to imagine the possibility that you might find it un- rusted and in use- able condition on a car in a junkyard. ;)

I was juat speaking from my experience. FWIW I've never seen one of these wheel "jack stands" fail, even unwelded.

Nope, the guy found a way to get his new house and keep the car.
All good though, I gained another 90s Mopar friend.
