Just watched a Tesla pull out of a spot right in front of my coworker as he was crossing the lo t. It then proceeded to pull across two handicap spots in the front of the brewery we were meeting at. I figured the guy must be either drunk, an asshole, or a very high end Uber driver . A dude then walked out of the brewery, open the driver’s door, and got in.
My coworker and I just looked at each other in bewilderment.
We are right on the border of rich assholeville and even richer assholeville, so it’s par for the course.

I can’t get a waymo car to drive faster than 35 without behaving like a terrified human being, so there is that, it seems. Tesla, I don’t know when they’ll be handling those cases. They seem to insist on beta testing with their clientele.

Interesting. Do you work for Waymo.

I’m in their beta ride share program and I live in Chandler where they operate heavily. I can’t tell when it’s a human or computer driving as we have tons of snowbirds in the area when temps are good, which means it does pass the Turing Test, in a way.
I have 12 free rides with Waymo queued, but the operating area is typically too small for it to be a viable option (it will tell me when I am out of range for their service.)
I probably would be making a lot more money if I did work for them
, though. I’d love to do that.

To clarify, I’m not manipulating the Waymo vehicles in any way. Just observing while not driving like an asshat near them. I sometimes review dashcam videos where I drive around them and look for clues, and sometimes I’m just keeping part of my eye out when I’m stopped at a light or in a parking lot.

It’s not that the cars pass the Turing test, it’s that the dotty old snowbirds don't

Oh yeah that will end well. Can’t wait to start seeing that bullshit around here.
And yes, I will fuck with the cars...
