This one is going to be interesting.

Not too much new info there, though I guess the fact they hit the approach lighting well before the runway threshold is something I hadn’t heard before .

NTSB recommendations coming out of this will be the interesting part.

I’m not a pilot, and all I’ve heard so far is “engine trouble,” but I have to wonder if it was the turn back to the airport that did them in.

The motor at 1:27 does not appear to have been spinning during the crash and appears to have been feathered, so the ‘engine trouble’ statement matches up with the report about the pilot stating that. But why the crash? Just because you lose one (or two under certain conditions) doesn’t, and shouldn’t equal crash. Pilots train for this kind of thing. We will find out in about a year I guess.

I didn’t realize how much and how dramatically the plane veered upon landing until seeing those skid marks in the B-roll. T he landing light info was also news to me as well.

That bit of plexi in the grass is interesting. Surprised that there hasn’t been any footage from survailence cameras of the incident.

I think she mentions during the press conference that they have footage from an airport security camera. In which case it just hasn’t been made public yet.

Hopefully it is clear enough to be useful.

9: 45 or 9:47 take off, 9:50 call to land.

lo cal news said, and I haven’t seen this reported elsewhere that it never got above 1k feet. i would suspect options were limited. only other large airport wold be westover, but that would mean flying over the dense springfield area

I guess it all depends on the nature of the problem. With 4 engines, it might have been better to continue forward and try to sort it out. Definitely not second guessing the crew.
