Oooooh the vacuum is a sore spot for me. My wife won’t clean out the quick release bin so it gets backed up and nasty and then she’ll say “our vacuum just doesn’t work well I think we need a new one.” I’ll get elbow deep in the thing, get it cleaned out until it works fine. And we both do some vacuuming but she does more than me so if I go a long enough stint without doing it; it’s a sure thing when I go to use it, it’ll be full.

i accidentally vacuumed up one of me missuses socks and then watched it go round and round on the dyson go round for a good few minutes... im easily amused
then i decided to rescue the sock but pressed the wrong button and instead of opening the top the bottom fell out..... dust everywhere
that was even funnier to me

My wife bought one of those dinky Dyson rechargeable vacuums. We have three dogs. You can’t even finish the living room without emptying the bin multiple times. By the time you finish the living room, the battery is dead. Granted, it picks up more than our old vacuums, even the older Dyson. But still, give me a decent-sized bin and a power cord!
At least my wife is willing to empty the bin....

unless you attach the hose to the wrong port, then they blow.

I like my rechargeable Dyson, not as powerful as my standalone Dyson, but so much more convenient to use. I don’t have problems with full bins though. I do also have a Roomba, and that fills up quick (usually after at most two runs, sometimes just one ). Clearly I need to upgrade to one of the new ones where the dock vacuums out the bin into a larger bin.

I’ve said this before, but going from suck to blow is a feature I really wish my Dyson cordless had.

My wife bought a Roomba too. The bin on that thing is also too small to keep up. Vacuuming is a daily task in our house and no puny Roomba or Dyson is going to keep up!

Once it goes into the shop vac, it’s dead to me. Seriously. I usually use a vac bag in there to catch the fine dust, so retrieving anything would require the destruction of the bag and a release of what I assume would be a giant cloud of toxic dust.

Now imagine that instead of dust and hair, it’s rabbit poop and urine-soaked bits of timothy hay.
We used to have pet rabbits. They were sweet pets, but man could they make a mess.

i was having issues with my pool filter getting flow . I thought ma ybe something was stuck in the line so i pulled out my shop vac and thought i’d blow air through the line and push out the blockage. my wife was holding the vac hose at the filter connection and i was watching the pool to see what happened, well nothing was happening so i went back to the filter to realize i had been sucking water in instea d of blowing air out. It was a wet/dry vac so no damage but cleaning it out was pretty gross .

I see the cordless Dyson being sold on HSN/QVC a lot. And they seem to work well. But I have the same problem you do. I have four dogs. I fill up the bin on my corded Shark (clone of older Dyson model) on each floor. And this thing has probably the capacity of a half gallon. And I vacuum twice a week. Great in theory, but until they give me a real bin and a lon ger battery they’re a non starter for me.

Years ago, when my sister moved into the firms at school, my folks g ave my sister a nice little canister vacuum. She knows I like to fix things so she gave it to me when she moved into a sorority house, saying that it no longer worked. The problem? The bag was completely stuffed, so full it was rigid - she never bothered to empty it. Thirty years later I am still using that same vacuum...
