In my opinion these are starting to cross out of “hillbilly trash” to classic truck territory. Does Oppo think they will go up in value considerably?

If it has the Cummins diesel, it’s already present BaT gold
Otherwise, just a pile of scrap

I’d be shocked if the value wasn’t up there already.

Yes. Dodge trucks are great, but also rust buckets so most of them have flaked away. In other words they already have rarity going for them.

You can still pick up really nice ones for cheap. Better than saving for retirement I think!

Single cab dually like that has to be quite rare.

You ARE saving for retirement, just not in conventional asset classes. At least that is what I keep telling myself every time I pick up new junk.

I would have said no, but then I would have said that about square body Chevy trucks too. So to sum it up, I have absolutely no idea what people will pay for an old truck.

While I’m sure the value will climb a little I doubt these will ever be collector fodder. Even the older W150s and such aren’t worth a whole lot, and they’re essentially the same truck, but better looking. IMO the “first gen” front end is the ugliest front end Dodge ever put on to this body of truck and will do it no favors in the desirability department.
The Cummins trucks however are a different story due to the popularity of the 12 Valve , but I think the 12 Valve craze has kind of hit its plateau, and with the huge improvements to the second gen I doubt we’ll ever see first gens come close to the same values.

Man! People are harsh on my beloved truck.
I personally prefer them over Chevy/Ford trucks, but to each their own!

They’re not bad trucks! I like them to! But in comparison to trucks of the same era it’s pretty easy to see that they’re very dated and were several steps behind in the design department, both interior and exterior.
My preference varies day to day, I do really like this generation of Dodge, however I’d prefer an older one if given the choice. I love the later Square Body trucks, but prices on those have gotten out of hand. I don’t care much for the early GM C/K trucks (although it’s easy to see how advanced they were compared to Dodge at the time). The B ulln ose Ford I’ve loved and hated over the years (currently love), and I’ve got a huge soft spot for the Bricknose Ford because I grew up in a reg cab long bed 2wd, with the 300 six and a 5 speed. FWIW I expect the same fate for two of my all time favorite trucks, the Bricknose, and the Jelly Bean F-150 (apart from special editions such as the Lightning etc.)

I think that any pre-emissions (2007.5) diesel truck that is relatively stock and in good shape will only go up in value over time. Not because they’re really worth it, but because of dwindling supply.

Always loved the boxy 1st-gen. These will climb in value in the near future for sure. These days, the only ones left are nice ones, or rotten redneck-spec trucks that are one traffic stop away from the junkyard.
